Microsoft Lumia 640 Will Be 'Among The First' Windows Phone To Receive Windows 10 Update; When Will It Be Available?
Microsoft's Scandinavian general manager Ossi Korpela has revealed on video that Microsoft Lumia 640 will be among the first Windows Phone smartphones to get a Windows 10 update.
According to Phone Arena, the Microsoft Lumia 640, which is expected to be released in the US by T-mobile "it's pre-paid MetroPCS division, and AT&T," will receive the Windows 10 update of the device "later this year according to the Microsoft executive."
In addition, International Business Times reported that Korpela has hinted that Windows 10 for Phones is set to be released in Europe first before the other countries.
The site added that users of Microsoft Lumia 640 in Europe might receive the Windows 10 update in the second quarter. The Windows 10 operating system will be available through over-the-air or OTA mechanism.
As for the specs of Lumia 640, according Microsoft website, the handset has a 5-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 that translates into 294 ppi.
The display features of the device include Sunlight readability enhancements, Lumia color profile and Gorilla Glass 3 for protection against scratches. When it comes to design, the device has an exchange back cover. Other user interface features of Lumia 640 include glance screen, tactile feedback, vibrating alerts, voice commands and word flow keyboard.
Under the hood, the Microsoft Lumia 640 runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz. It has 1 GB of RAM, free cloud storage of up to 30 GB, 8 GB built-in storage that can be expanded of up to 128 GB via memory card.
In terms of camera, the Lumia 640 has 0.9MP front-facing camera with features such as video call, video recording and still image capture. On the other hand, the handset's rear camera has 8MP with LED flash, backside-illuminated image sensor, rich capture and dynamic flash.
Furthermore, Microsoft Lumia 640 has a 2500 mAh battery with a maximum standby time of 36 days and a 17.5 hours maximum talk time on 3G.
In addition, connectivity options of the device include Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi hotspots, USB 2.0 and more.
