'Scandal' Cast Gearing Up For Season 5; What Their Social Media Posts Reveal
Many "Scandal" fans have been waiting for any news they can get about the Shonda Rhimes political thriller until season 5 premieres in fall.
The producers and cast members may have been mum about the story plots for season 5, but their social media posts have been uncovering bits and pieces of information that fans are dying to know about the show.
A week ago, Scott Foley, who plays Jake Ballard, tweeted: "I heard they're getting the band back together tomorrow. #ScandaI." Apparently, "Scandal" cast members met a couple of days ago for their first table read this season.
Scott Foley's tweet not only revealed that the pre-production for "Scandal" season 5 has begun; it also told fans that Jake Ballard is actually returning in the upcoming season. The possibility of Jake Ballard not returning to the show has been speculated previously, after he expressed last season that his mission is complete.
Kerry Washington who plays the show's crisis management heroine, Olivia Pope, also tweeted about her excitement over the table read. "TODAY IS THE DAY! #5candal #501TableRead Woooooo hoooooooo! Cannot wait to see the fam & find out what our @ScandalWriters have got cooking," Olivia wrote in a tweet.
On the day of the table read, Joshua Malina, who plays David Rosen, posted a photo of some of the cast members greeting each other during the meeting. The photo showed Jeff Perry who plays Cyrus Beene, Tony Goldwyn who plays President Fitzgerald Grant, Bellamy Young who plays First Lady Mellie Grant, and Scott Foley.
This photo confirmed that "Scandal" season 5 will still feature Mellie Grant and former Chief-of-Staff Cyrus Beene who were both kicked out of the White House by President Grant during the season 4 finale.
A couple of days ago, Kerry Washington also posted an Instagram photo of her wrist with a white watch, barely showing the sleeve of what looks like an off-white sweater.
"#5candal First day of filming season 5. Olivia's got a brand new gorgeous @Movado #UhOhShesWearingWhite," Kerry Washington captioned the photo, confirming that taping for the upcoming season of the ABC series has indeed started.
