At the first Tizen Developer Summit, Samsung showed off its big plans for an alternative OS shows its grand plans for developing an alternative OS at the 1st Tizen Developer Summit.

The Tizen Developer Summit held in Bangaluru, India is a sponsored event by Samsung and Tizen Association. The company said at the two-day conference that developers will receive a refernce design smartphone to work on their apps for Tizen.

Tizen has more than a 1000 developers on board and they will be loking at new uses for the platform and the Samsung Tizen OS will work with a phone and is applicable to wearables and TVs.

“TDS 2015 Bengaluru is significant as nearly half of the apps in the Tizen Store are created by developers from India,” said Aloknath De, Chief Technology Officer and VP-Samsung R and D Institute." “This reflects the enormous opportunity in India where a large base of platform and app developers continues to show significant interest to develop Tizen OS and high-quality apps,” Indian Express shared.

The Tizen Developer Summit catered to educating, engaging and exciting existing and potential developers.

Samsung is making attempts to link each consumer electronic device making it compatible with Samsung Tizen OS phone for example.  Samsung has dubbed its open-source technology as the “OS of Everything,” alluding an universal OS that can operate all Samsung gadgets and devices.

The theme at the two-day conference was a revelation about how devices linked to Tizen could connect with other devices using the same platform. An example of this would by Samsung OS Tizen phones. Additionally, Samsung executives discussed the concept of smart cameras run with Samsung OS Tizen.

Samsung introduced two new SDKs – version 2.3.1 and 2.4 Beta at the Developer Summit. The new SDK will also bring support for smartwatches with circular display. This is similar to the crown interface technology used in the Apple Watch.

Samsung touted its sales of one million units of Z1 after release. Analysts say Samsung is trying to tap into the feature phone segment with Tizen, but there is no speculation among tech watchers about the possibility of a Tizen flagship, Indian Express reported.
