Ellen Page Grills Ted Cruz On LGBT Rights At The Iowa State Fair 2015
Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz was confronted by actress Ellen Page for his views on Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT) rights, while he was grilling pork chops at the Iowa State Fair 2015 on Friday. They had a heated debate about religious liberty, reported The Guardian.
"What about the question about LGBT people being fired for being gay-trans?" Ellen asked.
Cruz responded "Well, what we're seeing right now, we're seeing Bible-believing Christians being persecuted for living according to their faith," reported ABC News.
Ellen highlighted that he was "discriminating against LGBT people."
Cruz being a fervent Christian stuck to his point, that he regarded marriage as an alliance between a man and a woman, told The Des Moines Register. So, Cruz ended the argument at the Iowa State Fair 2015 saying "Now I'm happy to answer your question, but not to have a back-and-forth debate, " mentioned ABC News.
Ellen had even raised a fact that the locals had bigoted a florist after he refused to cater to a homosexual wedding, American Thinker reported. In retort, Ted questioned her, "why liberals were 'completely silent' about the execution of gays." He further quizzed Ellen about "why Obama is turning over 100 billion dollars to Iran when they are hanging homosexuals?"
Recently, Cruz had hosted a "rally for religious liberty" in Des Moines on Friday night, reported The Guardian. He mentioned the Odegaards, a couple due to appear at his event.
The Iowa couple had a wedding chapel on their property. Recently, they were approached by a gay couple who wanted to hold their wedding there. "The Odegaards refused, citing their religious faith, and ended up facing litigation as result, which they settled out of court for $5,000," told The Guardian.
ABC reported that even after conversing for five minutes, Cruz hadn't known it was Ellen Page with a hat and pair of sunglasses at the Iowa State Fair 2015.
Ellen Page would be hosting a show titled "Gaycation with Ellen Page" for Vice Media. "The confrontation with political candidate Ted Cruz (at the Iowa State Fair 2015) was planned to be a part of that (Gaycation with Ellen Page) series," Ellen Page's publicist told The Hollywood reporter.
