Following the death of Satoru Iwata in July, Tatsumi Kimishima has been appointed as Nintendo's new president (2015). According to TheVerge, Tatsumi had served as the Nintendo's Managing director and the Head of Human Resources. Reports said that he had been the CEO of Nintendo's American wing until Satoru had assumed those responsibilities in 2013.

Nintendo's new president (2015) Tatsumi had begun his association with Nintendo in 2000, when he was hired as the CFO of the Pokémon Company. Earlier, he had worked at Japan's largest bank, The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ for duration of 27 years.

Though, Shigeru Miyamoto and Genyo Takeda had assumed interim roles to run Nintendo in the absence of the president. Genyo has been named as the "Technology Fellow," for his contributions in the hardware wing of Nintendo, while Miyamoto has become the "Creative Fellow."  Nintendo describes a "Fellow" as "an individual among the Representative Directors who has advanced knowledge and extensive experience in addition to holding the role of providing advice and guidance regarding the company's operations in a specialized area."

Unlike Iwata, Nintendo's new president (2015) Tatsumi Kimishima does not come from a developer background. This could be a part of the reason that Satoru was loved by those inside as well as outside the company. Satoru had displayed his love for gaming at various occasions.

"On my business card, I am a corporate president," Satoru said. "In my mind, I am a game developer. But in my heart, I am a gamer."

Nintendo has been going through a major transition, according to the Ars Technica. The organization was at the juncture of venturing into mobile gaming with its projects like Pokémon Go. Nintendo's next console codenamed the Nintendo NX would also be released in 2016.

The Gamer Headlines reported that Nintendo's new president (2015), Tatsumi Kimishima would assume his presidency officially on September 16. Under his leadership, the new "Fellow" scheme would also be put into action. The initiative would serve as a support system beneath Tatsumi for heightening a sense of community among Nintendo's developers.
