‘New Girl’ Zooey Deschanel Replaced By Megan Fox For Season 5
"Transformers" star Megan Fox has been signed on to replace "New Girl" Zooey Deschanel for season 5 of Fox's comedy show "New Girl."
According to the Hollywood reporter, "New Girl" Zooey Deschanel had recently given birth to her first child with her husband Jacob Pechenik. So, "Hope & Faith" actress Megan Fox had been booked for a few episodes of Fox's "New Girl," as Zooey is on a maternity leave.
Reports said that the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" actress would play the role of Reagan, a pharmaceutical rep for season 5 of Fox's "New Girl." She would rent out Jess' (Zooey Deschannel's) room in the loft, while she would take-off for a "jury duty." The Huffington Post reported that Megan Fox would join "New Girl" for the Sixth episode of season 5 that would premiere in January '16.
"New Girl" Zooey Deschanel would be off-camera for four episodes of season 5, the Hollywood Reporter revealed. Reporters said that the writers were accommodating Zooey's absence by scripting "Jess into a sequestered jury."
"The idea behind it was to be able to do those pastel courtroom sketches, so you could still see her in the jury," "New Girl" creator Liz Meriwether told The Hollywood Reporter. She added, "It's a little weird, but we're having fun with it. It's a way to have all of the guys check in with her. They watch the news reports on the trial."
She wittingly said that, "The first episode (of season 5) without her ("New Girl" Zooey Deschanel) is actually called "No Girl.""
"New Girl" season 5 would premiere in January, 2016. It is anticipated that "New Girl" Megan Fox's appearance on the show would "shake things up." The show also stars Jake Johnson, Lamorne Morris and Max Greenfield.
Philly.com had reported that Megan Fox and her husband Brian Austin Green had called the quits after being together for 5 years in August, 2015. Reports said that "New Girl" rep, Reagan would be her first new role since her divorce.
"New Girl" Zooey Deschanel had welcomed her first baby girl last month, while her co-star Max Greenfield had welcomes his second baby boy.
