Samsung Group revealed on Wednesday ATIV Book 9 Spin, along with its 4k ATIV Book 9 Pro laptop. The Spin is the smaller version of its Pro sibling, with its 13.3-inch QHD+ 3200 x 1800 pixels resolution display.

It is powered by a 2.5GHz Intel Core i7 processor which works with an 8GB RAM and 256GB Solid State Drive, reported Microsoft News. Samsung ATIV Book 9 Spin runs Windows 10 Home, has 2 speakers, an HDMI port, microSD card reader, three USB 3.0 ports and according to Samsung, offers 7.3 hours battery life.

Samsung ATIV Book 9 Spin and Pro are the newest members of Samsung Group's high-end Ativ Book 9 lineup, and they will be available in the US this month, reported ZDNet.

As a two-in-one laptop, the display of the ATIV Book 9 Spin is removable and doubles as  a tablet. It can be swivelled on a 360-degree hinge as a laptop. The black-flipping screen which transforms the device into a tablet is not its most appealing asset, but its head-spinningly thin frame.

The 0.59 inch frame is skinner than typical laptops, even skinnier than Apple's 0.68-inch MacBook Air. Weighing 2.87 pounds, its light weight beats Apple's ultra light laptop, yet it comes with fast processors and high resolution display, said Tech Radar.

With this hybrid laptop, Samsung Group for the first time, joins the burgeoning two-in-one space which already has Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro, Microsoft Surface, Asus budget Transformer Book T100HA and HP 13-inch Spectre x360.

For convertible or hybrid laptops, some can be more than laptops than tablets, while others are more than tablets than laptops. Samsung's device belongs to the former, said Tech Times.

The ATIV Book 9 Spin is tagged $1,400. Its twin sibling ATIV Book 9 Pro retails for around $1,600. In the United States, both devices will be exclusively sold through the South Korean OEM's website and Best Buy.
