As promised, Box announced Wednesday that it is bringing its app to Windows 10, a Universal Windows App which can run on PCs, Windows 10 Mobile and tablets. It includes a Windows 10-inspired user interface and packs several features.

Microsoft News quoted Box CEO Aaron Levie as saying, "Our app integrates with the Windows file picker so users can work in an Office file such as Word, PowerPoint, or Excel and have those changes saved directly back to Box without ever leaving Office. You can work on Office files right from the app and stay up to date on changes with the newly enhanced notification center."

According to ZDnet, to bring the Box app to Windows 10, Box has worked closely with Microsoft as the application is intended to run across various flavors of the new platform.

Box merged its two Windows 8 apps, the one for the Windows 8 desktop and the other for the Silverlight Windows Phone app to come up with a new unified Windows 10 app.

The Box app lets one manage content across devices, share files with anyone by sending links from the app so there is no need to handle large attachments.

Viewing content will be easy, whatever the file type is, either PDF, Office files or images. Updates are real time.

One can work on an Office file right from the app while the app can be used in multitasking with an option to resize it to smaller or bigger screen.

Finding favorite files  within the Box app is fast as they can be pinned in the Start Screen with Windows 10 Live Tiles so accessing them is easier.

The free Box app is now available on Windows 10 tablets and PCs; either for enterprise, business or individual with Box accounts.

Microsoft Corporation is trying to make it easier for developers to port their Windows apps to the new platform with the improved simplicity and speed of the porting process. The version for iOS and Android will hopefully follow suit.
