Angelina Jolie Appears Topless In "By The Sea"

"It was written before I had the mastectomy. And then I realized I was shooting the film, it did cross my mind to cut certain things. But I felt that was the wrong thing to do. That's hiding something, and I just don't believe in that. And then during the edit I got the call that I might have cancer and had to have my ovaries removed," said Jolie in a People magazine report.

The renowned actor and Jolie's husband Brad Pitt plays the male lead in the movie that features a couple struggling hard to save their estranged marriage. The couple allegedly travels to France as a family in an effort to patch up things and repair their troubled marriage.

Angelina Jolie Wrote "By The Sea" Script After Her Mother's Death

The 41-year-old star is said to have penned the story after her mother, actress Marcheline Bertrand's death in 2007. The actress noted that she wrote the story to come in terms with her mother's demise. Jolie's mother died of ovarian cancer which is one of the important reasons why the actress got her ovaries removed.

"It ended in a way where I understand myself and connect to other women and life and the cycles of life in a way I wasn't expecting," noted the actress about her preventive surgeries.
