Remote Play PC App Lets PCs Stream PS4 Games But Sony Also Plans To Bring Remote Play To PC And Mac

Thanks to a developer pseudonamed, Twisted, a desktop software Remote Play PC app will allow streaming PS4 games on the PC, just like Windows 10 PCs that can stream Xbox One games.

Twisted previously released an Android app that copies the ability of PS Vita to stream from the PS4 console. Twisted planned to release the app on Nov. 25.

Remote Play PC app also comes with a control panel that maps the keyboard and mouse controls which can be saved as profiles for different games. The app will likely cost $10 so the developer can work on the app full-time, enhance stability, enhance features and make it work with other platforms.

NDTV Gadgets quoted Twisted who said via his blog post: "I'd like to work on this project full time, adding features, getting it stable and porting it to other platforms which I know a lot of you want! The only way to support this is to charge for the app, all my previous projects have been free and I don't want to have to but sadly it's the only way to support my living costs."

The positive side of charging it means he can work on it more, providing support to users which can be limited with free apps.

While the app will make a lot of gamers happy, TNW said it is possible Sony will shut down Twisted's unauthorized app and the users' $10 each will be written off.

Xbox One allows streaming games for Windows 10 tablets and PCs, but Sony seemed not interested to allow PS4 owners to do the same. Hence, the Remote Play PC app will come in handy for many users of PS4 and PC.

However, Sony confirmed on Nov. 27 it will bring its authorized app Remote Play to PC and Mac as well, reported Wired. Sony WorldWide Studios President Yoshida tweeted, "Some people asked if we plan to provide Remote Play function to PC, and yes, we are indeed working on an official application for PC/Mac. :D"

It is not known whether the announcement was triggered by Twisted's unauthorized Remote Play PC app or has been in the works already inside the PS4 maker. Sony has not specified a release date yet.
