Sony PlayStation 4 sales are skyrocketing, setting new milestones in the sales of gaming consoles.

The Japanese electronics company, Sony, has sold out 30.2 Million PlayStation 4 units, announced the company proudly on Wednesday. Selling out more than 30 million gaming consoles in the time span of two years is truly an achievement for the Japan based electronic giants. Sony is clearly dominating the global gaming console market, out-beating the Microsoft's Xbox One.

"We are sincerely grateful that gamers across the globe have continued to choose PS4 as the best place to play since launch two years ago," said Andrew House, President and Global CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. in a press release, reported Gearburn.

Sony launched the unit in the market in November, 2013 and reached the tremendous figure within November 22, 2015, in exactly two years. Earlier this year the company had reported to have sold 20.2 million units until March 1, 2015.

The sales appear to have peeked in the last six month, increasing the figure to 30.2 million. At least one third of the overall sales took place in the past six months dominating the sales of other gaming gadgets in the market, according to CNBC.

"We are committed to bringing engaging games and entertainment services to users worldwide. Thanks to the support of our partners, PS4 continues to be the premier platform for game and interactive entertainment innovation," added House.

Microsoft which is considered as one of the Sony's closest competitors, as far as the gaming consoles are concerned has reportedly sold out 10 million units for the past one year. There are no big updates on the sales records of Microsoft's gaming console Xbox One obtained then.

Nintendo made an announcement recently that the company has sold out 10.7 million units of Wii U since it is launched in November, 2012 till September, 2015, which is far behind the Sony PlayStation 4 and Xbox One figures.
