Taylor Swift Wants Complete Privacy From Media On Her Birthday, Sends Back Channel Seven Reporter From Hamilton Island
It seems Taylor Swift is not ready to compromise on her privacy, at least not on her birthday.
The Bad Blood singer, who is currently relaxing with her family and friends on the luxurious Hamilton Island in the Whitsundays, Queensland, does not want to be disturbed. This is the reason that Sunrise's Queensland Correspondent Michelle Tapper was escorted off the island by security guards on Tuesday.
"I am the only one who is being kicked off," the reporter told the show's viewers during a live cross for Sunrise from a boat parked close to Qualia Resort, reported Daily Mail.
"I've never encountered anything like this before in 20 years of journalism. This is a pretty outrageous media ban made for just one person," Michelle added.
Tapper and her cameraman Luke Miers were told it was not illegal to ban media from the area as the island is privately owned by the Oatley family.
In a statement to Fairfax Media, a spokesperson for Hamilton Island said that a couple of media outlets were asked to leave the island because they believed their presence was disturbing the guests and that the decision had nothing to do with Taylor Swift.
"Hamilton Island can confirm that representatives of a number of media outlets were asked to return to the mainland after arriving at the Island yesterday," the statement read, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.
"It is within the rights of Hamilton Island management to take this action, and the decision to request that media return was Hamilton Island's alone. In this case it was clear the intention of the media outlets concerned was solely to disturb the privacy of a number of Hamilton Island guests without their knowledge or consent."
It is rumored that Taylor Swift's celeb friends including Selena Gomez, Ed Sheeran, Gigi Hadid and boyfriend Calvin Harris, are among the guests who will be flying to Hamilton Island for the pop singer's birthday celebration at the Qualia resort.
