The fourth-generation Apple TV is good for playing games with its big screen and fast hardware. The once "for hobby" Apple TV is now a full-fledge TV system with apps, games, features and enhancements.

With  Made For iOS controller, Siri Remote and an A9X processor, the device can be among the best video game consoles these days.

MacRumors reported that the fifth-generation Apple TV will commence trial production this month as supplier Quanta Computer will ramp volume production in the next quarter. Reports said the next-generation TV will feature a new CPU that will enhance device performance dramatically.

However, there is no release date specified and the site said it could be unlikely as Apple just released the fourth-generation TV late October.  Hence, the next generation may come mid or late of 2016.

Meanwhile, MacWorld listed the new and exciting Apple TV games this year and in 2016.

Mario Kart equivalent, "Beach Buggy Racing" looks livelier on the TV. When played with a controller, it feels like playing a console game, with various themed drivers and cars plus "special power ups and abilities that keep the game interesting."

"Canabalt" is a very popular game in iOS like "Alto's Adventure" and "Ski Safari" but in this game, players do not ski but run away from the robot apocalypse. The gamer simply taps the Siri remote touchpad lightly to hop between buildings to avoid falling and death. Being on the TV's big screen plus the loud music gives a more intense experience than when played on the iPhone.

"Lumino City" is a popular puzzler for iOS devices which features handcrafted paper-made levels and showcases a distinct visual style. It is slow paced, but becomes addictive when played more.

"Peg Ballet" is a simple Apple TV original game that is easy to learn but could take time to master. The gamer collects pegs as fast as possible by clicking "jump" on the remote. This can be multiplayer as well and the good news is a free iPhone companion app is downloadable so friends can join right away.

"SketchParty TV" reminisces the popular "Pictionary" and was named by Apple as among the "15 greatest party games." It is fun to play with groups of friends; a drawing and guessing game where a player is given a word. Using an iOS device, he draws the word for his friends to guess.

The fact is it is an original Apple TV game introduced in 2012 and utilized AirPLay through an iPad or iPhone instead of an Apple TV app. Matt Braun, the developer of the game assured that it is a universal app and once bought, it is available on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV.

Other exciting Apple TV games are "Disney Infinity 3.0" for kids, endless scroller "Jetpack Joyride," popular shooter "Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions Evolved," action-adventure "Oceanhorn," visually impressive "Galaxy on Fire," "Rayman Adventures," "Asphalt 8," "Afterpulse" shooter, "Crossy Road" party game and a lot more.
