Android Marshmallow To Land On HTC One M9 And One A9 This Month; Samsung's Android M Roadmap

Google's newest version of its popular mobile operating system Android Marshmallow will start rolling out for HTC One M9 and A9 this month.

Mo Versi, product manager at HTC, knows that everyone is badly expecting for the "emoji" update so he took time to inform everyone on the Marshmallow rollout status on Twitter, reported Phandroid.

Versi said Android Marshmallow is still on target for the unlocked devices HTC One M9 and A9 before the month ends. Those handsets bought from carriers will take a little or a lot longer as approval from carriers is required and that would take time.

Phandroid calculated that if the HTC One A9 will get Marshmallow within 15 business days, then, Dec. 28 is the date, or if before, it will be much better.

Google has made a lot of updates with Android from the very beginning until today but while the company has tried, it has no solution yet to the problem of getting the update to all handsets fast. One of the reasons is the original equipment manufacturers want to customize the software before running it on their hardware. Hence, that is partly due to requirements in hardware.

Various OEMs by now are revealing their plans about Android Marshmallow, and while they still have to make the update, Google has already made some tweaks in the new software. The Android owner has announced Android 6.0.1 with additional changes and features most noticeable on tablets as it tweaked the user interface while some navigation keys are moved around.

Aside from Android Marshmallow set to land on HTC One M9 and A9, Samsung also revealed its plans. For Samsung, the Marshmallow update is expected on the Galaxy Alpha, A Series, S5, Note 4 and Note Edge.

KnowYourMobile said Samsung is quite quick with its Android software updates but the world's biggest phone maker is at times not consistent. It is fortunate that this year, the South Korean OEM has already laid the roadmap for Marshmallow.

Galaxy Note 5 will have the update this month; S6 Edge+, S6 and S6 Edge in January; Note 4 and Note Edge in February; A5 in March; and Galaxy S5 and Tab S 10.5 in April. The Galaxy S5 and Alpha are part of the phase 1 plan but still needs approval.
