Holiday Shopping With A Donation: T-Mobile Will Donate $1 To Public Schools For Every Purchase Made With Android Pay

T-Mobile said they will donate $1 to non-profit DonorsChoose.org every time one buys something using Android Pay. The carrier announced it on Wednesday through its Twitter account, reported Phandroid.

A US 501 nonprofit organization, DonorsChoose.org is an online charity that allows people to directly donate to classroom projects of public schools, to fund supplies, books, sports, field trips and other essentials for the children. The organization is open to every school, courtesy of partners Chevron and Google.

With DonorsChoose.org, it is easy to help classrooms in need. First, teachers of public schools post a request for a classroom project, ranging from pencils to microscopes. People can then give any amount to any project that inspires them. One can give a minimum donation, which is a dollar.

Having T-Mobile donate $1 for every purchase made with Android Pay is actually a win-win situation. This means, using Google's mobile payment service can give someone some feeling of fulfillment, knowing that it is a contribution to the children's education.

It is a charity drive running through the holidays, a partnership with the Internet giant's Android Pay. Using Android Pay to pay, that is all a consumer would do. There is not much a consumer can do as T-Mobile will do the rest. The Droid Guy suggested that instead of paying with a debit or credit card, consumers can consider using Google's wireless payment service especially these holidays, for a noble cause.

There are no specifics if this is only for payments through T-Mobile's retail outlets or generally, every Android Pay transaction. The wireless payment service by Google is accepted in most major retail outlets in the US that have a Near Field Communication terminal. The consumer can just walk over to the nearest store and check if he can use Android Pay for the buy.
