Screenwriter Kim Eun Hee of the famous zombie series "Kingdom" has let out some clues about a potential third season!

On Sunday, March 20, Kim Eun Hee attended an interview wherein she talked about the show's second season.

"Kingdom" is a zombie sageuk that happened in the reign of the Joseon Dynasty. The story centers on the crown prince Lee Chang, portrayed by Joo Ji Hoon, where he must aid his people amidst the growing greed of his own family over the throne.

The second season is timely and has been gaining more attention from the viewers due to its similarities to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Screenwriter Kim Eun Hee talked about where she based the storyline of "Kingdom." She stated that it is a project that she has been working on since the year 2011. It is based on the plague that originated from the North Gyeongsang Province, off of the Baekdudaegan mountain range, and when you look at the map of Korea, it naturally makes a divide.

Kim Eun Hee added that in the course of this pandemic, there is no one who is taking this issue lightly. She hopes that this crisis will quickly calm down. And even though "Kingdom" is open to interpretation, she hopes that by spring season this nightmare will be gone and the world will be cleared of the plague.

"Kingdom" Season 2 has scored an average rating of 8.9 on the film database site IMDB, which ranked much higher than the Academy Award winning film "Parasite" at 8.6, while its first season peaked at 8.3.

Kim Eun Hee also talked about the possibility for creating a third season. The screenwriter explained that while working on the second season, she wanted to create a much larger universe. She then continued that those who have watched the series up until now will know, but people like Lee Chang, Seo Bi, and Young Shin are all people who chase the plague, wishing it does not intensify. She has thought that having season three that will tell the story of chasing the origin of the plague would be good, so the production is thinking of doing that storyline.

Kim Eun Hee added that the story one or the first season told the story about hunger and the second season told the story of blood. Then, if Nextflix agrees, she wants the third season to tell the story of resentment. The second season gave attention to the concept of 'temperature' and she thinks if the story were to travel north, the different ecosystem in the North would act as a clue.

Actress Jun Ji Hyun, who was seen at the end of season two, is also a sign of the large possibility for creating a season three. The screenwriter thinks Jun Ji Hyun's possible role next season will become a focal point of the story, together with the main characters from season one and two.

Kim Eun Hee ended the interview by saying that she thinks they will need to have a good discussion with Netflix for season three. And since all of the actors did an impressive job, they will have to match with their schedules.

Lastly, creating season three as soon as possible is a personal wish for her and she will definitely work very hard.
