South Korean actor Ki Tae-young has opened up about his disciplined yet family-centered lifestyle, where he is exceptionally strict with his own spending but spares no expense when it comes to his wife and children.

On April 22, during an appearance on MBC's "Radio Star," Ki Tae-young described how his daily routine and priorities have centered entirely around his family for the past 15 years.

He spoke about how his schedule is always made around his family, "I planned everything to fit my family, and I have been doing that for 15 years," revealing that his entire daily routine revolves around his children. In particular, he asserted, "I plan everything around my family, so I have absolutely no appointments after 6 PM."

What drew particular attention was his personal frugality. He revealed that he neither drinks nor smokes and only allows himself gifts on special occasions such as birthdays or anniversaries.

MyDaily reported that Ki Tae-young shared a striking detail about his clothing choices: "The clothes I am currently wearing were bought for 6,000 or 8,000 won (approximately $4.00 - $5.50 USD) during a sale." He added, "I am fine wearing a 6,000 won T-shirt. I maintain my figure so I can wear simple cotton T-shirts and jeans. If I live like that and my wife and children can enjoy what I have built well, that is my happiness."

The studio cast was surprised to learn about the actor's modest annual allowance. When asked by Kim Gura about how much he spends on himself, Ki Tae-young disclosed that it is only between 1 million and 1.5 million won (approximately $675 – $680 USD) per year—a figure representing yearly spending rather than monthly.

According to Naver, while Ki Tae-young saves on himself, he has shown extraordinary dedication to his daughters' education. His eldest daughter Ro-hee attends Songdo International School, one of Korea's most prestigious institutions. Tuition fees alone amount to approximately 600 million won from kindergarten through high school graduation. To support this, Ki Tae-young and his wife relocated their residence to Songdo to provide better access and support for their daughter's schooling.

He also highlighted the importance of discipline and early education in raising his children. "I am always grateful for the time I have spent with my children." He personally teaches his daughters essential life skills including how to judge character, brush their teeth properly, manners, and safety education.

Ki Tae-young's affection for his wife Eugene was also evident during the interview. He openly expressed his admiration and loyalty. "I say that even if I were born again, I would meet my wife. She is the best woman I could meet. She is a really good person." He finds greater satisfaction in the happiness of his wife and children than in any personal achievement.
