Kim Doyeon and Kim Minkyu Caught in a One of a Kind Romance in "Pop Out Boy"
A new and forthcoming Korean drama, titled "Boy and Girl Straight Out of a Cartoon," is solely based on the digital comic or what we now call as a webtoon, titled "Pop-Out Boy." It will tell us a story about a boy (Kim Minkyu), a manhwa character who sets foot on the real world.
But of course, his existence in the living world wouldn't be complete without a human friend and love interest. In his journey, he meets a high school girl named Han Sun Nyeo (Kim Doyeon).
Now, fans are intrigued by the drama poster that was shown on the internet just recently, and it is said that it will be released on June 25. So, webtoon-based drama fans, free your Wednesdays and Thursdays of the week!
The male lead role, played by Kim Minkyu, is Chun Nam Wook. "Boy and Girl Straight Out of a Cartoon" is Kim Minkyu's debut drama. He is currently a trainee under Jellyfish Entertainment. He competed in the reality show Produce X 101 and ranked 12th on the finale, making him unable to debut in the now-disbanded X1.
The upcoming female lead, Kim Doyeon, is from the girl group and eight-membered Weki Meki, under the agency Fantagio. She is the dancer, vocalist, and visual of the group. The group debuted in August of 2017, and the members were former cast in a reality TV show.
Kim Doyeon was born on December 4, 1999, and grew up in Wonju, Gangwon. She was also a model for a makeup brand, Maybelline. Like most artists nowadays, she also has her own solo, called "All Night," with Long:D. She was a former captain of a cheerleading team.
One fact about the idol-actress is that her mother is a manhwa artist and often based her drawings with her daughter's features. She was then teased growing up because of the resemblance shown on the drawings.
In the drama, the other characters are Choi Hyun Wook, Han Ji Hyo, Lim Bo Ra. The writers also confirmed that they had completed the cast, adding that the drama is a mixture of unique, fun, and quirky actors and actresses.
What made the fans of both parties excited is that the literal title of the upcoming drama. They were also curious since the characters from the webtoon are the exact replica in the series. They are excited about what is supposed to happen since you can read the manhwa in advance and see how the director takes it up a notch and how the cast will portray the webtoon characters in real life.
