tvN's upcoming mystery drama "Mount Jiri" releases new stills featuring Jun Ji Hyun and Joo Ji Hoon's respective roles.
Months ago, speculations were circulating whether Jun Ji Hyun and Ju Ji Hoon would lead the upcoming drama Mount Jiri. Well, this question has already been answered! The actors have finally made their role official!
"Mount Jiri" is a mystery drama that will center its story on people who climb and go through the mysterious and unexplored area of Mount Jiri, which is considered the largest mountain on the South Korean mainland. The drama is penned by writer Kum Eun Hye who also worked with the hit Netflix series Kingdom. It will be helmed by director Lee Eung Bok who also worked with hit dramas such as Descendants of the Sun and Goblin.
Actress Jun Ji Hyun is finally making a comeback as Seo Yi Kang in Mount Jiri. Her character as Seo Yi Kang is a brave and independent woman. She is the top ranger in South Korea's second-tallest peak. She is well-informed and knowledgeable when it comes to navigating the trails of the nature park. Finally, the actress who made our hearts flutter in "Legends of the Blue Sea" is returning to our screens!

Meanwhile, Ju Ji Hoon will be starring as Kang Hyun Jo, the military academy graduate who joins in as a new park ranger in Mount Jiri. He will work together with Jun Ji Hyun's character, Seo Yi Kang. Ju Ji Hoon portrays a character vastly different from the Crown Prince role he took in Kingdom. And this drama is considered as his second time working with writer Kim Eun Hye.

In the newly released stills, Jun Ji Hyun and Joo Ji Hoon gear up in their respective mountaineering clothes. They are all covered with wind-protective jackets and their strong hiking shoes. They are ready to hike the mountain with their backpacks, walkie-talkies, GPS devices, portable lights, and walking sticks.
It seems that the plot's main conflict will arise from Kang Hyun Jo's end since he keeps a deep secret that no one knows. However, viewers speculate that it is somewhat a traumatic incident that occurred in his childhood.

Other confirmed cast in the drama includes actor Oh Jung Se who will star as another park ranger named, Jung Goo Young. He is a strong believer in the saying "In order to save others, you have to save yourself first." Another cast is veteran actor Sung Dong Il as the head of the Haedong Branch Office in Mount Jiri National Park named Jo Dae Jin.
Mount Jiri is currently in the process of their filming with the cast's safety as the production's top priority. The drama is said to be working together with the Korea National Park Service to support their production and to help promote South Korea's national parks as a tourism venue.
"Mount Jiri" is set to premiere sometime next year (2021).
