Hwang In Yeop is Korea's New Rising Star
In a previous magazine interview, "True Beauty" actor Hwang In Yeop shared his acting journey through the years and more!
Known for his distinctive charm and good acting performance, South Korea's new rising star Hwang In Yeop will finally share with us his hard but beautiful career journey.
Currently portraying the character of Han Seo Jun, the rebellious but charming high school student, in the hit Korean romantic comedy drama "True Beauty," the actor is quickly gaining recognition worldwide. This is also his first ever drama wherein he is playing a lead role.
While preparing for his portrayal as one of the beloved webtoon characters, who is now very popular among the international fans, Hwang In Yeop said that he did everything that he could just to make his character flourish. Which he is continuously proving in every episode of the drama as he showcases different sides of his acting skills.
"I put a lot of effort into doing everything that I could, so I can show the viewers the most authentic persona of Han Seo Jun," said the actor. He confessed, "I have never ridden a motorcycle before in my life, but when I started to act as Seo Jun, I got a driving license, and I even enrolled myself in an action school so that I could film the scenes better with knowledge and experience."
The actor also said that he values and respect Han Seo Jun's fans.
"For me, it's nice to personally satisfy myself, but then I realized that satisfying everyone is the most important thing. That's why I have that eagerness to do well and make a lot of effort to show how much I care about Han Seo Jun's character."
Han Seo Jun is a cold-hearted rebellious boy on the outside, but is really caring and warm-hearted on the inside. Just like his character in the drama "True Beauty," Hwang In Yeop has experienced the difficulty of other people having various false assumptions about his true personality which they only base on his physical appearance.
He shared, "Most of the time, the shape of my eyes causes other people to falsely assume that I have a cold personality," he continued, "but when I smile, I really look different. And honestly, I am the type of person who smiles and jokes around a lot in real life."
The actor also expressed his childhood experiences, and that he used to be an introvert when he was younger. Hwang In Yeop also said that he is not really good at expressing his emotions, which leads to being misunderstood most of the time. But it changed when he already started his career as an actor. He slowly began to realize that it is not difficult to show his true colors to others, so he makes sure to be honest more in expressing himself.
When asked about his experience in wearing a school uniform given that he is already at the age of 30, he honestly admitted that he felt pressure about his age but the fact that the directors trusted him to portray such a young character, he feels grateful. He is also starting to be more comfortable of seeing himself in a school uniform.
Beside his busy filming schedule, Hwang In Yeop humbly expressed that he is more thankful for having such a great opportunity. It is already more than enough to keep him motivated in work.
Even though he doesn't get enough sleep for working up late, the actor is genuinely happy for receiving a lot of blessings in his life. He used to turn off his alarm but now, it is easy for him to wake up every morning knowing that what he is doing really makes him happy.
He may have debuted late but the rising star said that because of the opportunity that was given to him to be in the industry, he will work harder for each and every moment until it lasts.
Lastly, when he was asked about what kind of actor he wished to become in the near future, Hwang In Yeop answered, "I want to be an actor that people will look forward to. An actor whom the people can trust, and I hope there will be a moment where people would say, 'I hear Hwan In Yeop is in this project, let's go watch it.'"
