On Monday, Jan. 18, Goo Hye Sun shared a series of mirror selfies to her 1.8 million followers on Instagram. In the photos, Goo Hye Sun boasts skin as white as snow and large doe-like eyes. Her make-up is done softly, with filled-in eyebrows, mascara, eyeliner, blush, and a bold burgundy lip as a pop of color.
Alongside the photos included the caption, "I think I am a little bit (?) prettier recently...". Fans who saw the Instagram post took to the comments to praise the actress for her visuals, with many saying that she has always been pretty and that she is continuing to bloom with each passing day.
However, international followers who saw the photo did not react as kindly. Many had thought her comment appeared narcissistic and wondered how she was still popular despite the scandals she was involved in back in 2019 and 2020. Others went so far as to say that yes, she is pretty on the outside, but that did not beauty did not translate to how she is on the inside.
Back in 2019, it was reported to her now former ex-husband, actor Ahn Jae Hyun, had requested to terminate his marriage with Goo Hye Sun. On August. 18, 2019, Goo Hye Sun shared a series of text messages shared between her and Ahn Jae Hyun to her Instagram account, where it shows the two discussing their divorce. In a separate post, she released another image with a caption in which she claims to want to preserve their marriage, while Ahn Jae Hyun had wanted them to divorce quickly. The posts are now deleted.
Due to the number of times Goo Hye Sun criticized Ahn Jae Hyun publically on social media, the actress has suffered from countless malicious comments online. On Sept. 9, Ahn Jae Hyun submitted an application for divorce again Goo Hye Sun to the Seoul Family Court. It was delivered to Goo Hye Sun on Sept. 18, 2019. Prior to that, on Sept. 1, Goo Hye Sun announced that she would be taking a break from the entertainment industry to resume college. She is a student at Sungkyungkwan University.
The last drama Goo Hye Sun starred in was "You Are Too Much" in 2017, but left the show after two weeks due to health concerns. Prior to that, she starred in the KBS' vampire drama "Blood" alongside her ex-husband Ahn Jae Hyun. The show suffered from low ratings in South Korea and Goo Hye Sun was criticized for her poor acting.
In "Blood", she played Yoo Ri Ta. Yoo Ri Ta, who was born as Yoo Cha Eun, is a highly capable yet ego-centric surgeon of Taemin Hospital. She enters the medical school at just 17 years old and is the niece of the chaebol group's chairman, who owns the hospital. As a child, she was saved by Park Ji Sang (Ahn Jae Hyun) from a pack of wolves. She reunited with him at Taemin Hospital but does not recognize him, and is instead annoyed with his presence in the hospital.
