"Penthouse 3" writer hints at more shocking and intense twists for the megahit drama's final season.

The highly anticipated SBS series claimed the spot as the top rating Friday drama with a high viewership rating as it made a comeback on the silver screen last June 4.

According to Nielsen Korea, "Penthouse 3" episode 1 managed to garner a whopping 20 percent rating, beating its recorded highest viewership from the past seasons.

Amid the success of the suspense thriller drama, screenwriter Kim Soon Ok promises breathtaking and thrilling revelations from the characters.

In an interview cited by MK Sports, "Penthouse 3," writer was asked regarding the achievement that the smash hit drama received in the past seasons.

The veteran writer recalled that she had been criticized at the beginning; however, with the overwhelming response from the public, she says that it was like a "dreamlike" feeling adding that she will do her best to give the audience another round of heart-pounding drama.

Moreover, as the award-winning drama reached its final season, screenwriter Kim Soon Ok spoke about the differences between the first and second seasons.

During the interview, she revealed that "Penthouse 1" focuses on "the endless desire of man," while season 2 centered on the "punishment for sin."

In addition, she also explained that certain characters couldn't fulfill their desire; hence, they aim for more power, money, and fame.

"It seems that a man, whether he has one compartment or ninety-nine compartments, is unhappy because of his deficiency and continues to sin because of his unhappiness," she mentioned.

As for the current season, "Penthouse 3" writer suggests that viewers will see more "destruction" and chaos that is set to bring upon the people at Hera Palace.

"Season 3's theme is 'Destruction'. When humans sin, the whole world collapses. But even in that terrible situation, new heavens and earth will open up, and new sprouts will be born from the cracks in the crumbling stones."

The SBS evening drama captivate the viewer's heart with its thrilling twist and turns and shocking revelation between Shim Soo Ryeon (Lee Ji Ah), Joo Dan Tae (Uhm Ki Joon), Oh Yoon Hee (Eugene), Cheon Seo Jin (Kim So Yeon), and the rest of the Hera Palace personalities.

"Penthouse 3" Writer Shares Her Biggest Difficulty Creating the Drama

As the trilogy of "Penthouse: War in LIfe" continues, screenwriter Kim Soon Ok revealed the most significant difficulty she faced while creating the drama.

She explained that having young adults watch their drama is what worries her.

Given that the top-rating drama involves "extreme human emotions," she can't help not to include provocative, violent, and brutal scenes that "might have been uncomfortable to watch."

Apart from the top rating drama "Penthouse: War in Life" also took home several awards, including the 2021 Baeksang Arts Awards, where Kim So Yeon bagged the Best Actress category for her portrayal as the vengeful primadonna Cheon Seo Jin.
