Almost Human Season 1 Ep 1 Recap: Premiere Episode Introduces Two New Sci-Fi Heroes (Photo/Video)

 Fox new series, “Almost Human” has introduced new science fiction action heroes as it premieres on Nov. 17, 2013. Karl Urban plays the lead character, John Kennex while Michael Ealy portrays the role of android cop, Dorian.

The title, “Almost Human” applies to both Kennex and Dorian.

Set 35 years into the future, the new sci-fi, crime drama tells the story of the situation in Los Angeles in 2048, described with the upsurge of crime in the city.

Following the failure of the Los Angeles Police Department to contain and mitigate the crime in the city, authorities found a way to fight crime, reported 400 percent increase at that time.

 According to The Daily Beast, authorities decided to team up every officer with an android cop, “an advanced, combat-model android,” called MX-43.

The pilot showed LAPD Detective John Kennex (Urban) getting teamed up with Dorian (Ealy). The episode began with Urban getting ambushed by a crime group called, “The Syndicates.” One of the members of the “Syndicate” squad detonated a grenade that killed one officer and wounding Kennex, leaving him with only one leg.

After 17 months in a coma, Kennex woke with only have one in mind - - investigate how “The Syndicates,” orchestrated the ambush. Still unhappy with the police policy to team up human copy with MX-43, Kennex opted for an “outdated android model, DRN,” named Dorian (Ealy).

Dorian belongs to an android model, DRN created with an ability to feel human emotions, unlike MX-43. His abilities differ from MX-43 and was explained in detail in the pilot episode.

As the two got paired up, it was clear how Dorian serve as partner to Kennex. His sense of emotions played a key role in Kennex pursuit to the ambush that killed his squads and caused him lose his legs. Dorian helped Kennex figure out the raw data collected from an MX-43, added, the Daily Beast.
