‘The Red Sleeve Cuff’ Episode 17: Lee Junho and Lee Se Young Destined to be Each Other’s Forever
New Year starts and viewers witnessed the royal finale of MBC's "The Red Sleeve Cuff." As Yi San (Lee Junho) and Sung Deok Im (Lee Se Young) start a family together and build an almost perfect life, painful events struck them and tested their marriage.
'The Red Sleeve Cuff' Episode 17: Yi San and Sung Deok Im Mourn the Death of Their Son
After giving life and spending precious moments with their firstborn, Yi San and Sung Deok Im didn't expect to lose him a few years later when measles outbreak infected the young Crown Prince.
As he is the King, Yi San tries to be strong for his family and country.
When she was grieving the passing of her child, Deok Im found out that her friend Young Hee was on a death row after having an affair and miscarriage. Yi San hid it from her since she was pregnant with their second baby.
Sung Deok Im Dies, Yi San Left Alonge and Struggles to Live as King
Sung Deok Im was devastated to see her loved ones dying. The royal concubine's health deteriorated due to stress. She passed out and was unconscious for three days. The king couldn't focus on his work as he was worried about Deok Im.

When she finally woke up, pale and weak, she asked Court Lady Seo (Jang Hye Jin) to look for her friends Kim Bok Yeon (Lee Min Ji) and Bae Kyung Hee (Ha Yul Ri). Instead, Court Lady Seo escorted Yi San and brought him to Deok Im.
The king was emotional as he held Deok Im's hand. He asked her again if she ever loved him, and though she didn't directly confirm it, Deok Im was able to say how much she cared for Yi San and loved him through the years.
A few moments later, Sung Deok Im passed away. The palace mourned, and Yi San was overwhelmed by loneliness and heartbreak for losing the only woman he loved.
The palace tried to look for another concubine to replace Sung Deok Im but to no avail.
To fulfill his duty as the king, Yi San swore to forget about Deok Im and start anew.
Yi San Reminisces the Moments He Had with Sung Deok Im
Decades later, Joseon became one of the safest nations. When looking for a new soldier to be one of the royal guards, Yi San discovered Sung Sik's (Deok Im's brother) son and hired him to train inside the palace.
He then remembered the memories he had with Sung Deok Im. He asked one of her friends, Bae Kyung Hee, who is now the head of the court ladies, to tell him more about the late royal concubine.
Kyung Hee brought Deok Im's keepsakes to Yi San. The king got emotional reminiscing the moments he had with Sung Deok Im.
A few days later, the king got sick and went into perpetual slumber. He woke up with Deok Im by his side and they shared warm embrace and kisses, celebrating their reunion.
