Behind every villain has a dark past and so does Ok Eul Tae.
In "Bulgasal: Immortal Souls" episode 9, it showed more about his family who lived 1,000 years ago.
It turned out that his father was Detective Kwon Ho Yeol, who had two sons. Ok Eul Tae was the eldest, but his father chose his younger brother to be the heir to the throne.
During a conversation with his aide, the general mentioned that he couldn't choose his eldest son to be his successor because of his illness; unfortunately, this was heard by Ok Eul Tae and got jealous of his brother.
Because of the rage and jealousy, he killed him in the woods and told his father that it was the bulgasal who murdered him.
