Before Choo Young Woo became a full-time actor, JYP Entertainment considered him for idol training, according to Koreaboo. But eventually, he went in a different direction, which he says he doesn't regret.

Choo Young Woo said during the interview that he was glad he didn't go into the idol business after learning more about how challenging it is.

The actor talked about his thoughts on the experience, saying, "Honestly... I'm really glad I didn't do it. I mean, I really respect singers. You don't realize how much work goes on behind the scenes until you see it up close. What you see on stage is only a small part of it."

He went into more detail about how seeing live performances and rehearsals changed the way he thought about careers in entertainment. He agreed that acting requires discipline, but he stressed that performing live puts a different kind of pressure on you.

Before making his comment, he transitioned to comparing acting with stage performance. He said, "Acting is something a lot of people can try. But performing on stage? That's not something just anyone can do."

Star News noted that Choo Young Woo recently shared the stage with K-pop star Choi Yena at the 10th Anniversary Asia Artist Awards 2025. He said that the experience made him even more grateful for idol performers and the hard work they put into getting ready.

Netizens in the industry said that his presence at the event showed how versatile he is as an entertainer, even though he is still mostly focused on acting projects.

At the end of the interview, he talked again about how open he was to performing on stage in the future, but he made it clear that acting is still his main focus. He thought about it and said something when asked if he'd want to be an idol in another life.

In his last statement, he said "If I get the chance... Maybe in my next life."

Fans who are still following the actor's rising career in both TV and movies have noticed what he said. There are still discussions going on about how actors can also be K-pop stars.
