Lee Seung Gi Revelation: ‘Mouse’ Star Recalls Shocking Experience in the Military and Overcoming Fear of Heights

Lee Seung Gi dishes out his experience in the military during his appearance in KBS' travel documentary. 

Joining hosts Lee Seon Hee and Lee Geum Hee, the "Mouse" star traveled to Mokpo in South Jeolla Province as they embarked on a healing journey. 

Overlooking the scenic beauty of Mokpo sea, Mt. Yudal, and the whole city of Mokpo, the trio took the opportunity to ride the Marine Cable Car, the country's longest and highest cable car. 

While in transit, the "Vagabond" star noticed that Lee Geum Hee was terrified of heights. To comfort the host, he confessed that he used to be afraid of heights but was able to conquer them in the military.

In 2016, the actor started his 21-month mandatory military service and enlisted as an active-duty soldier. 

According to reports, Lee Seung Gi's military service officially ended in 2017 when he became a member of the 13th Special Forces Brigade Black Panther and Republic of Korea Army Special Warfare Command, serving as a military intelligence specialist.

With his extensive experience in the field, who would have thought that the award winning star used to have fear of heights. 

During his appearance in the travel show, Lee Seung Gi recalled how he was forced to jump with a parachute, sharing that he "will be released from the special forces if he does not do it."

He then admitted that it was a terrifying experience but was ashamed not to complete the task, so he did it, adding that he unintentionally overcame his fear o heights. 

Former Special Forces Soldier Reveals How Lee Seung Gi was Like in the Military

In a 2021 episode of SBS's "Master in the House," cast members, including Lee Seung Gi, meet their guest Park Goon, a former Korea Coast Guard who debuted as a trot singer in 2019.

Interestingly, the South Korean heartthrob knew the former soldier since they used to be a Special Forces member.

During the chat with the cast, Park Goon revealed what the actor was like during his military service. 

He described Lee Seung Gi as an elite "model soldier," noting that the award-winning actor "received full marks in all the physical examinations."

In addition, the former soldier also lauded the actor for his impressive physical skills. 

Lee Seung Gi finished a 10-kilometer marathon with 1,000 participants and was able to place in the top 100, where most of them were professional athletes.

After serving the military, it's business as usual for the actor, headlining various notable dramas and hosting top-rating variety shows. 

His comeback Kdrama was "A Korean Odyssey" with Oh Yeon Soo, Cha Seung Won and more.

Two years later, he headlined an action-packed series "Vagabond" with Bae Suzy. 

As for Lee Seung Gi's new drama, following the blockbuster series "Mouse," he is set to return to the small screen with "Love According to Law" and in talks to headline the upcoming thriller crime K-drama "Super Note: The Heyday of the Villains."
