Director Yoon Jong Bin On 'Narco-Saints' Success

Netflix's high-rating series "Narco-Saints" revels in the spotlight as it dominates the Hallyu scene with its star-studded production and riveting narrative.

Following the story of a damned businessman who gets involved in a drug-dealing sitch, the time-relevant work instantly gained critical acclaim and high praise from the public.

In spite of its high budget of a whopping 35 billion KRW, director Yoon Jong Bin admits that creating the show was not a walk in the park.

During its filming, the threatening coronavirus broke out which suspended all overseas filming for "Narco-Saints."

"The work was ruined and it was almost a hopeless case," the director admitted. "Fortunately, there was a place in Jeju that gave off South American vibes."

Indeed, where there's a will, there's a way. According to the director, everything including the stress and fatigue were worth it, especially now that "Narco-Saints" is gaining much attention.

Even Hollywood star Nicolas Cage has talked about the series in his personal Instagram account, proving the work's popularity.

When asked whether there will be a new season for "Narco-Saints," director Yoon Jong Bin expressed his honest thoughts that disappointed fans.

"Some viewers are speculating that there is a high chance for Season 2, but I don't have that in mind," the director said matter-of-factly.

Yoon Jong Bin stated that a new season might not be worth the risk, and he would rather spend his time and creativity in curating a new film like the blockbuster works "Alien," "The Witch" and "Emergency Declaration."

'Narco-Saints' Dominates Netflix Global Charts

Since its release earlier this month, Ha Jung Woo, Hwang Jung Min and Park Hae Soo's "Narco-Saints" has captured the attention of the public, eclipsing the popularity of Park Eun Bin's "Extraordinary Attorney Woo."

"Narco-Saints" rose from the eighth spot to the third spot in the Netflix Global Charts, and is currently in first place in South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Hong Kong and more.
