Kim Hye Soo never fails to amaze viewers with her outstanding performance as she takes on a new role in "Under the Queen's Umbrella."

Portraying the most special royal Queen Im Hwa Ryeong, the actress showcased top-notch acting as the historical K-drama made its debut on October 15.

However, some viewers pointed out that Kim Hye Soo's acting is wasted because of junior actors.

Viewers Slam Actors Who Play Grand Princes in 'Under the Queen's Umbrella'

Despite starting off with an impressive rating, some expressed disappointment over the cast member's performance in "Under the Queen's Umbrella"

Kim Hye Soo's new drama kicks off with a solid viewership rating after garnering an average nationwide of 7.6 percent, while the second episode almost hit a double-digit rating after climbing to an average nationwide rating of 9.1 percent, making the tvN K-drama the most-watched-series in its time slot across all channels.

Although the historical K-drama showcases a story full of emotions thanks to the veteran stars, especially Kim Hye Soo, the actor playing grand princes receives criticism from the audience due to their performance.

In a report cited by an outlet, netizens expressed how they got carried away by the whole story and Kim Hye Soo's acting where she created a flawless character by depicting the queen's inner side being a mother and a royal at the same time.

Unfortunately, some got dismayed watching her co-stars' performances.

Others think that the actress is "trying hard to carry the drama" while some mentioned that "they are wasting Kim Hye Soo's acting".

At one point, netizens pointed out SF9 Chani's performance, playing the role of Prince Ui Seong. In the same report, viewers think that his "acting is seriously bad."

Is 'Under the Queen's Umbrella' Worth Watching?

Helmed by "Twenty Again," "About Time" and "Prince Coffee Lab" director Kim Hyung Shik, "Under the Queen's Umbrella" depicts the journey of Queen Im Hwa Ryeong who is defending her throne and at the same time protecting her five sons from possible danger.

In the historical K-drama, Kim Hye Soo's eldest son, played by Baek In Hyuk is the Crown Prince, who is next in line to the throne but was stunned by a devastating incident after the queen learned about his deteriorating health.

"Under the Queen's Umbrella" also focuses on how Queen Im Hwa Ryeong prepares her other sons, the four grand princes to be considered worthy to inherit the Crown Prince's throne if something bad happens to him.

However, Queen Im Hwa Ryeong also faces a challenging situation with her mother-in-law, Queen Dowager Cho, the palace's legend.

Where to Watch 'Under the Queen's Umbrella'?

With the whole season having a total of 16 episodes, the historical K-drama airs every Monday and Tuesday.

Interestingly, viewers could watch "Under the Queen's Umbrella" via tvN while subtitles are available on Netflix.
