Kim Nam Gil is ready to meet the viewers for the second time this year with "Island." The actor gives a glimpse of his dual role in the forthcoming fantasy series.

'Island' Stills: Kim Nam Gil Showcases Duality

Ahead of the long-awaited premiere of "Island," TVING provided updates about the drama. The production released new stills introducing the interesting character of Kim Nam Gil.

The fantasy-action drama is based on the popular webtoon of the same title. It centers its story about a dark secret concealed on the beautiful Island of Jeju, and three individuals are destined to fight evil forces trying to destroy the earth.

Kim Nam Gil takes the role of Pan, he is an immortal monster hunter who protects the world from demons for thousands of years.

Joining him on the journey is Mi Ho, to be played by Lee Da Hee. She is a chaebol heiress who acquires a powerful strength of which she is unaware not until she meets Pan.

Meanwhile, Cha Eun Woo will transform into a young exorcist named Father John.

Kim Nam Gil Lives as Human and Monster To Kill Demons

In the newly-dropped stills, Pan lives a double life of being a human and a monster at the same time. He has survived millennia on his own in order to eliminate the evil spirits that are trying to invade the human world, particularly on Jeju Island.

The first photo exhibits the hunter in the middle of a hair-raising fight, wearing a murderous glare and confident smirk against his opponent. Another one shows him clutching a weapon with an intense look of determination.

'Island' Producers Praise Kim Nam Gil's Characterization

"Island" producers shared their experience working with Kim Nam Gil and how he perfectly conveyed his character. According to them:

"From the very beginning of the shoot, Kim Nam Gil brought Pan's character to life through not only detailed analysis of the character but also a three-dimensional performance in which he vanished fully into the role."

They also invite fans and viewers to look forward to Kim Nam Gil's performance in the new drama "Island."

The series will air on December 30 on TVING.

"Island" has 12 episodes in total. This is Kim Nam Gil's second drama this year following the crime series "Through the Darkness," which concluded its broadcast last March 14.
