Kim Tae Ri and Nam Joo Hyuk in 'Twenty Five, Twenty One'

This 2022, the sports romance drama "Twenty Five, Twenty One" dominated the entertainment scene.

With its impeccable storyline and adorable cast, the drama warmed the viewers hearts. Kim Tae Ri and Nam Joo Hyuk showed off their intense chemistry in the series which earned a syndrome-level popularity.

The series was lauded for its realistic portrayal of its characters; Kim Tae Ri and Nam Joo Hyuk depicted the struggles and challenges of young adults in the '90s during the IMF crisis.

Due to the external factors that affected their psyche and emotions about their relationship, they were both worn out by it and decided to end things to move forward in life.

While the breakup was a consensus, fans still couldn't believe that their favorite couple parted ways even up until this writing.

Unlike many K-dramas, "Big Mouth" wasn't centered on romance as it's an action series depicting the story of a lawyer who will do anything to achieve justice with the help of his wife who's a nurse.

In the drama, Yoona and Lee Jong Suk fell in love in high school, and became inseparable since. But because of an unexpected incident, the course changes.

This couple has been through a lot; Lee Jong Suk being sent to jail while Yoona gets harassed at work, shattering viewers' hearts.

What devastated viewers the most was when Lee Jong Suk says goodbye to Yoona, whose character dies due to cancer.

Though fans believe that the death was unnecessary to the plot, they still rooted for the show with heavy hearts.

BLACKPINK Jisoo and Jung Hae In in 'Snowdrop'

The romance drama "Snowdrop" starring BLACKPINK Jisoo and Jung Hae In was one of the most controversial works in the past year.

It centers on the love story of a South Korean university student who falls for the North Korean spy she met on a blind date.

"Snowdrop" is a package deal; romance, espionage, melodrama and action in one. Because they come from clashing parties, the two couldn't be with one another.

But at the end of the show, they all lay everything on the ground for love. BLACKPINK Jisoo, whose character belongs to a high class family, stands up against her father for Jung Hae In.

Unfortunately, things didn't go accordingly as Jung Hae In is shot dead at the end, scarring BLACKPINK Jisoo and the viewers' hearts for good.
