From adaptation to original series, these series proved their reign not only in Korea but globally. 

Here are five K-dramas that gained popularity this 2022. 

'All of Us Are Dead'

The Netflix original series started the year with a bang as the K-zombie series delivered a show-stopping performance after the 12-part episode series scored huge success globally. 

Just days after its premiere "All of Us Are Dead" dominated the streaming platform's top 10 tv shows globally. 

In addition, the webtoon-based series becomes the fourth Korean series to enter global charts joining the success of "Squid Game," "Hellbound," and "Arcane."

On the other hand, viewers saw the chemistry between the "All of Us Are Dead" cast which includes Park Ji Hoo, Yoon Chang Young, Park Solomon, Cho Yi Hyun, and more. 

'Juvenile Justice'

With Kim Hye Soo headlining the drama, there's no doubt why her K-drama comeback "Juvenile Justice" created a major buzz this 2022. 

She transformed into the fearless judge, Shim Eun Seok who despises young offenders. 

Joining Kim Hye Soo are veteran actors Lee Sung Min, Lee Jung Eun as well as Kim Moo Yeol.

One of the hottest K-dramas this 2022 is the coming-of-age series "Twenty-Five Twenty-One."

Starring Kim Tae Ri and Nam Joo Hyuk, the series took place in the late 90s when South Korea's economy crashed due to IMF crisis.

It follows the story of Na Hee Do, played by Kim Tae Ri, who dreams of becoming an Olympian fencer while Baek Yi Jin, portrayed by Nam, Joo Hyuk is a college student who was forced to drop out because of the family's financial crisis. 

'Under the Queen's Umbrella'

Another Kim Hye Soo-led K-drama that gained popularity this 2022 is the historical series "Under the Queen's Umbrella."

From the judge, the award-winning actress transformed into Joseon's Queen named Im Hwa Ryung who will do everything to protect her sons against greedy royals. 

"Under the Queen's Umbrella" not just featured an interesting plot but also show a stopping cast lineup, including Moon Sang Min, Bae In Hyuk, Ok Ja Yeon, and more. 

'Extraordinary Attorney Woo'

Every K-drama viewer will surely agree with "Extraordinary Attorney Woo" entering the list of 2022 best K-dramas. 

Park Eun Bin wowed viewers with her spectacular performance playing the titular role.

In addition, fans also loved the on-screen chemistry of the actress with co-stars Kang Ki Young and Kang Tae Oh. 

With the huge success of the drama, "Extraordinary Attorney Woo" season 2 gets the green light, with viewers hoping that the original cast will return to the sequel. 

'Reborn Rich' 

Last on the list is Song Koong Ki's drama "Reborn Rich."

Playing the dual role of Jin Do Joon and Yoon Hyun Woo, the JTBC series aired with a soaring viewership and even beat "SKY Castle" as the second highest-rated K-dramas in cable tv history.

As of this writing, it is still unclear if the revenge drama will return with season 2 but viewers are hopeful to see Song Joong Ki reprising his role.
