After a vlog about her trip to Japan in February came out before Korea's Independence Movement Day on March 1, actress Ji So-yeon apologized in public.

Ji So-yeon talked about the issue on her social media account on March 2. She said, "I am taking seriously the many opinions you have sent me regarding the video of my trip to Japan that was uploaded at the end of February."
She said she knew when the video was uploaded and added, "The video in question was content documenting my trip on February 11th, but it was my oversight to not sufficiently consider the significance of the timing of the posting. I sincerely apologize for not being able to look at it more carefully," per Naver.
Ji So-yeon also took responsibility for how the public reacted, saying, "It was a video documenting my personal daily life, but regardless of my intentions, I believe it is entirely my responsibility to cause discomfort and disappointment due to the timing of the posting. I apologize once again."
Ji So-yeon said that the decision to post the vlog was entirely her own, despite criticism aimed at her travel partner, Yang Mi-ra. She said, "It weighs heavily on my heart that criticism is spreading to Mira, who traveled with me. The decision to upload and release was entirely my own, and Mira, who traveled with me, had no knowledge of any of this. I deeply apologize to Mira, and I sincerely hope that no one is hurt by this."
She ended by promising to be more responsible in the future:"Through this incident, I have deeply realized that I must act more carefully and responsibly. From now on, I will more carefully consider the social context and timing in all processes of planning and releasing content. I will humbly accept the criticism you have sent me."
The argument started when Ji So-yeon posted a video on her YouTube channel on February 28 that showed her and Yang Mi-ra going to Takamatsu, Japan. The video has since been set to private because of the backlash.
MK said that the event shows how sensitive Koreans are about historical anniversaries, especially Independence Movement Day, and how public figures should think about the social context when they share personal information.
