‘Alchemy of Souls’ Episode 27: Lee Jae Wook Sacrifices Go Yoon Jung To Save Hwang Minhyun

In the penultimate week of "Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow," Lee Jae Wook makes a painfully life-changing decision. In particular, the truth about his identity is revealed. Here's what happened in the seventh episode of tvN's highly rated series.

'Alchemy of Souls' Episode 27: Jang Uk Wages War Against Cheonbugwan

Previously, Jang Uk (Lee Jae Wook) rushes to the gambling den where the Cheonbugwan mages ambushed Seo Yul (Hwang Minhyun).

Though he stopped them from attacking, the blood parasite inside Seo Yul's body finally took over his core energy, endangering the mage's life.

With this, he goes to Cheonbugwan with the intention to kill Jin Mu (Jo Jae Yoon), the culprit who created the blood parasite.

Songrim, led by Park Jin (Yoo Jun Sang), declares their loyalty to Jang Uk. However, the royal family couldn't target Jang Uk as another great war would begin.

Crown Prince Go Won (Shin Seung Ho) dissuades Jang Uk and offers to help him in return. Jin Mu, on the other hand, asks for his sister Jin Ho Gyeong's (Park Eun Hye) help.

However, Jin Ho Gyeong agrees to help save Seo Yul in one condition: to return Jin Bu Yeon (Go Yoon Jung) to their home. Without hesitation, Jang Uk agrees.

Elsewhere, Jin Bu Yeon is dead worried about Seo Yul's state. When she places her hand on his chest, memories of Naksu (Jung So Min) flashes in her mind, confusing her.

The Firebird and Seo Yul's Water Wick

In order to save Seo Yul, Jang Uk and the Crown Prince set aside their ill feelings for one another. Together, they create an energy pathway for the firebird without breaking the relics inside Jinyowon.

Jin Bu Yeon dons Seo Yul's water wick, a marble that contains his remaining life, in her mouth. During the process, Crown Prince Gowon learns that the shaman he knows is actually Jin Bu Yeon.

Thankfully, they successfully take the blood parasite inside Seo Yul's energy and feed it to the fire bird, saving the dying mage.

As they celebrate, Jin Bu Yeon soon realizes that they have to break up after all of this, revealing her knowledge about Jang Uk and her mother's deal.

Jang Uk and Jin Bu Yeon's Real Identities

Seo Yul, who is recovering from his almost-demise, learns that Master Lee (Im Chul Soo) knows about Jin Bu Yeon's real identity.

Master Lee then orders Seo Yul to keep Jin Bu Yeon and Naksu's identities as a secret. At Cheonbugwan, Crown Prince Go Won also discovers that Jang Uk is the real heir to the throne.

Jin Mu discloses that Jang Uk was born with the King's Star, and that he's a man born under the power of the alchemy of souls.

Meanwhile, Jang Uk yearns for Jin Bu Yeon, who leaves for Jinyowon without saying goodbye. Unbeknownst to him, the young priestess is waiting for him to fetch her once again.

At the end of the episode, Jang Uk, who couldn't sleep nor think straight because of Jin Bu Yeon's absence, searches for her.

Jang Uk then confesses how he misses her. At the end of the episode, the two share a soulful kiss.
