IU Makes Donation To Families in Need on New Year
Singer-actress IU proves that she's a star with a pure and generous heart as she lends a hand to people in need!
On January 2, the "Hotel del Luna" star spread love and happiness to the low-income families of Yangpyeong County, Gyeonggi Province in South Korea.
IU donated 10 million KRW (approximately 7,833.18 USD) to collect briquettes of love to support the residents' daily needs and livelihood for the new year.
The singer-actress has a soft spot for the Yangpyeong residents as her parents also live in the same neighborhood. The governor of the small county expressed his gratitude to IU, saying, "IU's constant donations ensure people's safety and warm nights."
In particular, IU has been donating to the needy since 2020, relieving the struggle of the impoverished.
IU's History As Donation Fairy
Unbeknownst to many, IU is not only talented as a singer and actress. She also has a big heart!
Since her debut in 2008, the "Broker" actress has already made numerous heartwarming donations to financially struggling families under the name "IUANA," a combination of her stage name and her beloved fans, UAENA.
In 2022, IU made a total of 1.67 billion KRW (approximately 1.4 million USD). She extended her hands to ease the worries of the forest fire victims in March and flood victims in August.

To commemorate Children's Day, her birthdays and even debut anniversaries, IU makes sure she gives back the blessings she has been receiving to other people.
Unlike other stars, IU is one of the actresses in the industry who grew up in poverty and because of this, she empathizes on a personal level with them.
She stated, "I want to share the love and support I received from many people. I don't want anyone to be left behind."

The "Hotel del Luna" star works with the hottest stars in the industry including Park Seo Joon, Kang Ha Neul, Lee Hyun Woo, Lee Honey and more in the forthcoming film "Dream"!
IU's new film tells the story of a football player, played by Park Seo Joon, who coaches the special soccer team of homeless people for the Homeless World Cup.
In the series, IU takes on the role of an aspiring director who works hard to create a documentary about the team.
"Dream" is produced by Megabox Plus M which released the 2022 films "The Roundup," "Decibel," "Hunt" and more. IU's new project is slated to air some time in 2023.
