To fully show their talents and skills as actors, they are expected to step out of their comfort zones, especially if they want to be recognized worldwide for their diverse acting range.

Here are four amazing South Korean actors who were able to prove their versatility to the public. Keep on reading to know more.

Song Hye Kyo

Known for her "flat" acting and similar roles, Song Hye Kyo has always been the subject of criticisms despite being a top star.

She also received negative comments about her playing the same characters over and over again. Song Hye Kyo then wowed everyone with her transformation in her revenge drama "The Glory."

In the series, she strayed away from her pretty heroine character and became the sultry, vengeful and morally gray character who plans to avenge herself.

Because of this, "The Glory" is now named as Song Hye Kyo's best drama yet, receiving positive reviews from fans all over the world.

IU

Singer-actor IU had been associated with innocent roles for a long time, even earning the title "Nation's Little Sister."

In the early parts of her career, she had always played the roles of the damsels in distress who are significantly weak. Though these characters suit her face, many fans claimed that she didn't shine that much as an actress.

To prove her talents, IU took on the challenge and played the fierce and girl boss lead role in the fantasy romance drama "Hotel del Luna."

Diversifying her filmography even more, the singer-actress accepted the daring and much more complicated role in "My Mister."

Namgoong Min

Namgoong Min's career skyrocketed when he portrayed the villainous character in the 2015 series "The Girl Who Sees Scents."

Since then, Namgoong Min has always been remembered for his villain roles, including his portrayal in "Remember: War of the Son."

When he headlined "Good Manager," his transformation stunned the public with his comical performance. Fans then believe that Namgoong Min could do any role he is given.

He once again proved his excellence with his acting transformation in the legal series "One Dollar Lawyer" with Kim Ji Eun.

Kim Ji Won

Popularly known for her rather bratty and sophisticated roles, Kim Ji Won was then stuck with the supporting roles that require fierceness and boldness like "The Heirs" and "Descendants of the Sun."

While these roles perfectly suited her, Kim Ji Won didn't want to be typecasted throughout her career. She then accepted the offer to play the bubbly and vivacious female lead in "Fight For My Way."

In 2022, Kim Ji Won also played the role of a timid and melancholic woman in "My Liberation Notes" wherein she received good reviews and positive feedback from fans and critics alike.
