Singer-actress IU opened up about her honest thoughts on her career and upcoming drama melodrama "You Have Done Well."

IU, who's now in her 30s, is one of the biggest stars in the industry with great contributions to South Korean pop, drama and film culture.

IU Reveals Career Plans This 2023

Ahead of her long awaited return to the small screen, Lee Ji Eun, more professionally known as IU, talked about her honest thoughts on new acting role and career.

It has been four long years since IU starred in a drama. Though she's more active as a singer, the artist has an impressive filmography, including "Hotel del Luna," "Dream High" and more.

In 2022, IU headlined the Cannes Film Festival action drama film "Broker" alongside Song Kang Ho, Bae Doona and more. The film broke records after records due to its impeccable and emotional plot, which without a doubt reeled in viewers.

This 2023, the singer-actress turns 30 years old with more than a decade of experience in singing and acting. In a recent interview, IU shared her concerns and plans for her career.

"It's not an exaggeration but I lived my 20s with concerns about reaching 30," IU admitted. "At this point, I don't have any expectations for myself. I just want to enjoy things."

According to the actress, she wants to maintain her carefree mindset and enjoy the present without stressing over the future.

When asked if she will stop making music and play new acting roles, the actress clarified that she will still continue to thrive career-wise; IU just doesn't want to complicate things by thinking far ahead.

Currently, she is preparing for her return to the small screen with the drama "You Have Done Well"!

IU Shares Preparations For New Acting Project

IU's acting career flourished even more after the international success of the fantasy thriller drama "Hotel del Luna."

After four long years, IU is set to make her much anticipated comeback to the small screen with the period drama "You Have Done Well."

The work follows the story of the adventurously rebellious young woman named Ae Soon, played by IU, who dreams of becoming a poet.

Meanwhile, IU works for the first time with Park Bo Gum in the show, playing the role of Gwan Sik.

Due to the well-curated plot, IU chose the work as her comeback project. She feels that she and Ae Soon have a lot in common, making it easier for her to immerse in her character seamlessly.

IU guarantees the viewers a lighthearted drama despite its heavy themes about dreams and disappointments. Even more so, "You Have Done Well" is in its final stages of planning.

Filming begins in the second half of 2023 with the intention of releasing the drama the following year.
