After six consecutive weeks of broadcast, Kim Min Gyu's fantasy romance comedy series "The Heavenly Idol" finally came to an end.

While the drama received quite a great reception during its run, many viewers were left with mixed reactions and disappointment. Here's what happened.

Fans Express Mixed Reactions On 'The Heavenly Idol' Conclusion

For six consecutive weeks, Kim Min Gyu boasted his impressive performance as a high priest-turned-idol in the rom-com drama "The Heavenly Idol" with Go Bo Gyeol!

The actor gained a massive following in 2022 after his heart-fluttering appearance in Kim Sejeong and Ahn Hyo Seop's workplace romance series "Business Proposal."

Unfortunately, the actor's recent drama wasn't able to live up to the fans' expectations from him, resulting in the quiet conclusion of "The Heavenly Idol."

Broadcast network tvN released the final episode of the series on March 23, which scored an average rating of 1.5%, failing to surpass its highest viewership rating of 3.0% that was recorded during the pilot broadcast.

Many fans expressed their disappointment, saying that Kim Min Gyu's work was "underwhelming" and "silly" for its fantasy plot. According to some, the actor wasn't able to show his full potential due to the poorly written script.

However, some viewers who genuinely liked the drama argued that the work still delivered despite the low ratings, thanks to the synergy between Kim Min Gyu and Go Bo Gyeol.

Though it fell short compared to new tvN releases, the production unit gave the two stars high praises for their hard work. All 12 episodes of "The Heavenly Idol" are available on Viu with English subtitles for international viewers.
