Amid the soaring viewership and praise by viewers of Lee Je Hoon's "Taxi Driver 2," some noticed a resemblance between episode 12 to the infamous Burning Sun scandal.

Based on the webtoon of the popular webtoon "The Deluxe Taxi," the action crime K-drama depicts the story of a secret organization that protects victims from its perpetrators.

Besides the amazing cast lineup, viewers are hooked to every episode of "Taxi Driver 2" since it also highlights social issues like bullying, fraud, harassment, and more.

However, the latest episode of the weekend K-drama is garnering attention for its similarity with the Burning Sun controversy that involved known celebrities such as BIGBANG's Seungri, Jung Joon Young, F.T. Island's Jonghyun, Highlight's Junhyung, and more.

Did 'Taxi Driver 2' Criticize the Burning Sun Scandal?

According to a media outlet, episodes 11 and 12 of "Taxi Driver 2" featured likeness with the 2019 controversy after a slew of celebrities, mostly K-pop idols were involved in the scandal after an elite nightclub raises suspicion of rape, spycam usage, and corruption from authorities.

The illegal activities at Burning Sun were exposed after a man was caught being assaulted by guards at the nightclub.

Interestingly, BIGBANG's Seungri was known as an executive director of the establishment.

As authorities conducted an investigation, it was found out that the biggest names in the Korean entertainment industry, powerful figures, and even the police were also involved in the case.

Based on "Taxi Driver 2" as the Rainbow Taxi team went on a secret mission, they found out that the key people that they are investigating are all related to Black Sun.

As depicted in the K-drama, it is an elite nightclub, catering to wealthy people and top stars. One of the regular customers of Black Sun is K-pop idol Victor, played by Go Geon Han.

Following the broadcast of episodes 11 and 12, viewers seemed to notice that the story seemed related to the Burning Sun scandal.

Over social media, netizens raised speculated that the character of Go Geon Han might be Seungri because his name means "Victory" in Korean.

Moreover, others also mentioned that the timing seemed perfect since the former idol was recently released from prison.

Back in February 2023, media outlets reported that Seungri was released from prison after serving a year and a half.

That is due to the nine charges which included soliciting prostitution, gambling, and embezzling, all related to the Burning Sun scandal.

On the other hand, officials of "Taxi Driver 2" are yet to respond to the speculations of the public regarding the show's controversial episodes.

'Taxi Driver 2' Episode 13 Release Date

The Rainbow Taxi team's mission regarding the Black Sun continues in episode 13 as Kim Do Gi officially receives a complain regarding the illegal activities of the elite nightclub after a reporter revealed the truth behind it.

"Taxi Driver 2" episode 13 is scheduled to air on April 7 through SBS while international viewers could watch the latest episode through Viu TV, Viki, and Wavve.
