Netflix has officially dropped the much-anticipated team-up between two top stars as Kim Hee Ae and Moon So Ri portray strong and influential characters in the political K-drama "QueenMaker."

The 11-part episode series focuses on women's empowerment, especially in the male dominated world of politics.  

Interestingly, Kim Hee Ae and Moon So Ri's drama showcased a fresh take on "womance," or the friendship between two female characters, as it depicted roles "outside of their comfort zones."

'QueenMaker' Enters Netflix's Top 10 TV Shows

Released on April 14 exclusively on Netflix, the political thriller series ranked 5th on the top 10 TV shows worldwide, as cited by Flix Patrol.

As of April 18, "QueenMaker" tops in 7 countries, including Indonesia, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, and more.

Besides the overwhelming response of the public, viewers praised the series for its amazing cast lineup, featuring a roster of talented actors.

Kim Hee Ae

She has been in the industry for decades, raking in multiple awards, including five recognitions at the Baeksang Arts Awards.

Interestingly, Kim Hee Ae reached global fame after landing the lead role in "The World of the Married" and played doctor Ji Sun Woo together with Park Hae Joon and Han So Hee.

After three years since the romance drama took the world by storm, Kim Hee Ae played Eunsung Group's "fixer" and PR expert in "QueenMaker."

Interestingly, she will return to the small screen for another political K-drama under Netflix, along with "Kill Bok Soon" star Sol Kyung Gu for "Whirlwind."

Moon So Ri

Like Kim Hee Ae, Moon So Ri is among the most respected and multi-award-winning actresses in Korea.

Prior to "QueenMaker," Moon So Ri starred in "On the Verge of Insanity" and in Netflix's "Seoul Vibe" as Chairwoman Kang In Sook. 

Ryu Soo Young

The versatile actor took on the role of the villain Baek Jae Min, who is Oh Kyung Sook's (Moon So Ri) opponent for Seoul's mayoral race. 

Interestingly, OG K-drama fans would remember him as Han Kwang Hoon in "Endless Love" and prosecutor Shin Ji Wook in "My Lawyer, Mr. Jo."

Seo Yi Sook

The 56-year-old theater actress played EunSung Group's chairman, Son Young Shim. 

Interestingly, some might recognize her as Sandbox's director Yoon Seon Hak in "Start-Up" as well as the deposed Queen Consort Yoon in "Under the Queen's Umbrella."

On the other hand, Seo Yi Sook also worked with Kim Hee Ae in "The World of the Married" and played Chairman Choi's wife. 

Ok Ja Yeon

Another familiar face seen in "QueenMaker" is Ok Ja Yeon, who portrayed the role of Hwang Do Hee's subordinate turned Baek Jae Min's mistress, Guk Ji Yeon. 

The 34-year-old beauty also played the mistress in "Under the Queen's Umbrella" as Royal Consort Hwang. 

In addition, she also headlined the thriller mystery K-drama "Mine" with Lee Bo Young and Kim Seo Hyung. 

Jin Kyung

She played the disgraced politician Seo Min Jung, who is also running for the mayor's seat. Jin Kyung is best known for her role as head nurse Oh Myung Shim in "Dr. Romantic" seasons 1 to 3. 

She also played Park Min Young's mother in "Love in Contract" and Tae Soo Mi, the representative of Korea's No. 1 law firm, Taesan, in "Extraordinary Attorney Woo."
