Choi Kang Ho Is Born

"The Good Bad Mother" begins with Jin Young Soon (Ra Mi Ran) and Choi Hae Sik (Cho Jin Woong) welcoming their beautiful baby boy to the world.

The couple lived a peaceful life in a humble village as pig farmers. Unfortunately, their perfect lives face their sudden demise when thugs burn down their farm.

When he tries to appeal to the court, Choi Hae Sik gets captured by powerful thugs and kills him off while staging it as a suicide.

Jin Young Soon then moves to another village to move on and raise her child alone. At the clinic, she and another pregnant woman go into labor.

She gives birth to Choi Kang Ho while Jung Geum Ja (Kang Mal Geum) gives birth to a baby girl named Lee Mi Joo.

Choi Kang Ho & Lee Mi Joo's Young Romance

Choi Kang Ho (Lee Do Hyun) and Lee Mi Joo (Ahn Eun Jin) grow up being friends while Bang Sam Shik (Yoo In Soo), a friend who likes Lee Mi Joo, bullies Jin Young Soo's son.

At home, Jin Young Soon tells Choi Kang Ho to endure the bullying as it will make him a great prosecutor someday, leaving the impression that she's a bad mother.

Later that day, Choi Kang Ho and Lee Mi Joo celebrate their birthdays together. However, a jealous Bang Sam Shik locks them inside the school's supply closet.

The whole village think that they have eloped together, alarming Bang Sam Shik who "rescues" the two inside the school.

Bang Sam Shik and the locals unlock the closet at the moment where Choi Kang Ho performs the Heimlich maneuver to Lee Mi Joo, giving off a bad impression.

The two young kids become a couple. Lee Mi Joo cheers him up by giving him gifts before dropping him for his law exam.

However, a worried Choi Kang Ho misses his most important exam when Lee Mi Joo gets hit by a bike. He then shushes him into his arms, saying that he will take the exam next year.

Choi Kang Ho Transforms Into Ambivalent Prosecutor

A few years later, Choi Kang Ho becomes a successful prosecutor who now works with Director Song Woo Byuk (Choi Moo Sung), the same person who killed his father.

Choi Kang Ho spends his time trying to win Director Song's favor by clearing up his name. Director Song then thinks about passing his business to the former as his heir, Surprisingly, Choi Kang Ho accepts to be his son.

While Choi Kang Ho became a prosecutor, Lee Mi Joo is now a nail technician with two kids of her own.

In episode 2, Choi Kang Ho's new girlfriend Oh Ha Young (Hong Bi Ra) gets a pedicure from Lee Mi Joo. She throws a fit and accidentally gets cut.

Oh Ha Young berates Lee Mi Joo when the latter doesn't apologize. However, she refuses and scares her away with her martial arts moves.

Meanwhile, Jin Young Soon visits Choi Kang Ho in Seoul. Much to her dismay, her son refuses to meet with her.

Later that day, Choi Kang Ho and Oh Ha Young go on a date. Their precious time gets interrupted when he sees drugs inside his bag, which she refers to as a "panic disorder medicine."

Choi Kang Ho's Ill-Fated Life

Choi Kang Ho then runs to Director Song to reveal the dirt he found out about Oh Ha Young's father, who's a member of the National Assembly.

He is then introduced as Director Song's son who's about to be married to Oh Ha Young; this way, betrayal won't be possible for both parties.

Elsewhere, Lee Mi Joo opens her own nail salon. Choi Kang Ho and Oh Ha Young visit Jin Young Soon at their humble village.

Choi Kang Ho demands his mother to sign off the adoption papers, making Jin Young Soon cry in pain. When the couple leave for Seoul, a truck rams into Choi Kang Ho's car, making it fall off a cliff.
