Woo Do Hwan made his comeback through MBC's "Joseon Attorney." Unfortunately, the drama is not gaining much attention and is consistent in receiving low ratings since its premiere.

'Joseon Attorney' Consistently Garners Low Ratings Since Premiere

"Joseon Attorney" debuted on primetime last March 31. Many were looking forward to it as it's Woo Do Hwan's first project following his military discharge. It's also his first time to team up with idol-actress Bona, who made her name known through "Twenty Five Twenty One."

According to a source, the historical drama is struggling in the swamp of 2 percent ratings. It has been said that the series was popular since it was based on webtoon. But different from the expected hype, it has not attracted viewers' interest in the growing development despite advocating a revenge genre.

The 16-episode series follows the journey of Kang Han Soo, a lawyer from the Joseon Dynasty who avenges the death of his parents in a trial. It started with a 2.8% rating and remains in the 2% range.

Its ratings rose shortly after "Taxi Driver 2" concluded and recorded the highest ratings of 4.4% in the eighth episode.

Unfortunately, it returned to low ratings again in episode 10.

Is Woo Do Hwan's Comeback Drama 'Joseon Attorney' a Flop?

There are reasons Woo Doo Hwan's K-drama "flopped," and rarely showed its power. First is the genre of revenge, which does not give the audience a cool sense of pleasure. In addition, the build-up process to go to the main story is long.

The relationship between Kang Han Soo (Woo Do Hwan), Lee Yeon Joo (Bona), and Yoo Ji Sun (Cha Hak Yeon) also accounted for the proportion, reducing the time for the male protagonist to focus solely on revenge.

Above all, "Joseon Attorney" airs at the same time as the dramas that have received and broke the highest ratings in each episode, such as "Taxi Driver 2," "Dr. Romantic 3," and JTBC's newest medical-romance drama "Doctor Cha."

While Han Seok Kyu and Um Jung Hwa are leading their respective dramas perfectly, Woo Do Hwan and WJSN Bona are showing stable acting skills, and lack recognition and spark in the eyes of the viewers.

However, some are hoping that the remaining six episodes will bring new color to the drama's stagnant plot.

Catch "Joseon Attorney" every Friday and Saturday on MBC at 10 p.m.(KST).
