Lee Joon Hyuk's Health Suffered After Gaining 19kg for 'The Roundup: No Way Out'

In an interview with Allure Korea, the actor revealed the changes he went through to portray Joo Sung Cheol.

As obtained by a media outlet, "The Roundup: No Way Out" is his first project in which he played an "extreme villain" character.

He went on and described Joo Sung Cheol as a "sensitive bison."

"I created Joo Seong Cheol by imagining the image of a bison," he said, adding that it is "the most confident character" that he ever portrayed.

As for his transformation into the movie's new villain, Lee Joon Hyuk says he purposely gained weight for the role.

The actor revealed an interesting reason why he gained almost 19 kg.

"I gained weight so that it would hurt less when I was hit by Ma Seok Do," he said, adding that he personally liked his new look.

However, Lee Joon Hyuk's health suffered because of it.

"In fact, my liver index increased after I gained weight, and my health seems to be getting worse. I overworked my body, so I'm thinking about protecting it," he said.

According to Lee Joon Hyuk, he bulked up by sticking to a strict meal plan and eating "a lot of chicken breast and tomatoes" as well as hamburgers before the production kicked off.
