The year 2023 has been a great time for innovative and compelling K-dramas to flourish in the global market and capture the viewers on the first watch.

With the rise of K-drama internationally, a slew of works with unique narratives appealed to many. Among them is Song Hye Kyo's "The Glory," which centered on female rage and revenge.

Here are four of the hundreds of series that showed great material that every Hallyu fan should watch at least once.

'Revenant'

Starring Kim Tae Ri, the horror occult series "Revenant" will make any viewer shiver with its thrilling elements.

The drama follows the life of a young woman who becomes a vessel for evil spirit possession. As she looks for answers, she uncovers dark secrets about her family and herself.

Unlike many other works, "Revenant" takes strong inspiration from the rich Korean folklore culture which adds a supernatural element in the series.

'Doctor Cha'

Like what Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh said, don't let anyone tell you that you're past your prime: this is true for Uhm Jung Hwa and her lovely character Doctor Cha.

Taking on the titular role, Uhm Jung Hwa headlined the comedy medical drama "Doctor Cha" which follows a brilliant homemaker who one day decides to pursue her professional career after 20 years of inactivity.

With a dismissive family and cheating husband, Doctor Cha navigates her life crisis, chooses herself first and finds meaning in liberation and new beginnings.

Doctor Cha enjoys her second heyday just as much as Uhm Jung Hwa loved the limelight and success of the JTBC drama.

'Bitch X Rich'

Red Velvet Yeri's comeback drama "Bitch X Rich" explores the dark side of high school, the rampant bullying and evident class divide between the rich and the poor.

Lee Eun Saem of "All of Us Are Dead" also stars in the show as a typical poor-yet-intelligent character. She also plays a foe-turned-friend to Yeri's character.

Their friendship becomes more exciting when they get involved in a heinous murder that took place inside their prestigious university, turning their lives upside down.

'Lies Hidden In My Garden'

What would you do if you notice a pungent stench in your fancy home's well-loved backyard?

In "Lies Hidden In My Garden," two housewives, played by Kim Tae Hee and Lim Ji Yeon, living very different lives are brought together by an awful smell that changes the course of their relationships inside and outside of their marriages.

The series is not a regular family drama as it takes its viewers on a roller coaster ride of suspense, disgust, horror and rage.
