Lee Han Byul Debuts To Hallyu With 'Mask Girl'

On August 16, Netflix's "Mask Girl" heightened the public's anticipation as it introduced its cast and crew ahead of its premiere.

After School Nana and Go Hyung Jung take on the titular role of Kim Mo Mi in different timelines-from her run-of-the-mill life as an employee to her adrenaline-filled fantasy as a masked broadcast jockey.

Rookie actress Lee Han Byul also portrays the role of Kim Mo Mi alongside the two esteemed actresses. She is making her first feature debut with "Mask Girl."

Since the announcement of the production, her identity has been kept a secret which raised the netizens' curiosity. Much to their delight, she and her acting role were finally revealed.

Lee Han Byul was cast after passing the audition. She was drawn to the character whose life transforms from being boring to a rollercoaster ride.

"I'd be lying if I said I wasn't burdened with the series," Lee Han Byul confessed. "But I did my best to show my appreciation to the director who believed in me."

Lee Han Byul also revealed that she felt nervous about meeting the stellar cast including Go Hyun Jung and Nana. She also shared a glimpse of their new-found friendship on the filming set.

"Go Hyun Jung hugged me after seeing me," the actress revealed. "We were called Mo Mi A, B and C and she introduced herself warmly as "Mo Mi C" which comforted me."

The rookie actress' worries were replaced with excitement after Go Hyun Jung and Nana shared their expertise in acting, making the filming of the drama more memorable.

Rookie actress Lee Han Byul is the fateful actress who successfully landed the "Mask Girl" acting role after a tedious audition process.

During the production presentation on August 16, it is revealed that Lee Han Byul broke the competition rate of 1000:1, besting other aspirants.

Kim Young Hoon, the director of the show, described it as "fate." He reasoned, "Lee Han Byul left a lasting impression on the team despite being a reserved and humanly attractive person."

The audition process was held at the height of the pandemic, and was done through virtual auditions where the candidates had to submit a video clip of their profiles.

Thankfully, Lee Han Byul was cast. Despite the intense pressure, the actress channeled her jitters into showcasing Kim Mo Mi's anxiety and lack of will in her stagnant life.
