Amid the reported civil and criminal lawsuits against those who accused IU of violating the law, the actress received death threats, and her agency made bold statements regarding the news.

Edam Entertainment Gives Updates on IU's Ongoing Battle Against Online Accusers

Edam Entertainment, IU's agency, released a press release on October 6 and gave updates and progress of civil and criminal lawsuits against the accusers.

According to them, they have already begun the application process to secure the personal information of the accuser who damages caused by illegal acts such as defamation against the artist, infringement of personal rights, and false accusations, and are waiting for a reply from the relevant data as the court has adopted the application.

Before this, in February, the agency sued multiple social media accounts who are believed to be accusers for defaming IU and spreading false information about the artist. This case is already under investigation as per the agency.

Edam Entertainment shared that the singer-actress received death threats.

In response to this, the agency said that they are already in the process of holding civil and criminal responsibility for indiscriminate slander and illegal acts against artists online and offline in accordance with the unwarranted principle of zero tolerance, and additional follow-up measures are also being prepared.

They added that the level of violent behavior toward the "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo" star has already gone too far, with reports of death threats being spread at the company's building, Kakao Entertainment's office building, and IU's home.

Edam Entertainment Strengthens IU's Security

The agency elaborated that after receiving such threats, they immediately strengthened the artist's security personnel to secure her safety, especially now that she is filming her upcoming K-drama.

Edam Entertainment added that they will make sure that the false reports can also be subjected to punishment, and will track down the accusers to quickly and strongly punish them.

These are also the security measures that they apply to their other artists including Shin Se Kyung and WOODZ.

What's Next for IU

Furthermore, IU is continuing to work on her projects in the music and drama industries. Following her big screen return with "Dream," the award-winning star is about to make her highly-anticipated drama comeback with "You Have Done Well."

She will collaborate for the first time with K-heartthrob and K-drama leading man Park Bo Gum in this series. In addition, the project is tentatively scheduled to premiere sometime in 2024.
