Shin Hye Sun Expresses Affection For New Film 'Brave Citizen'

On October 21, Shin Hye Sun dished out her honest feelings on her upcoming film "Brave Citizen" with Lee Joon Young.

The film follows the life of a former athlete who becomes a teacher after giving up on her previous career. She then sees herself in a sticky situation when she becomes a target of violence.

Shin Hye Sun transforms into So Si Min, an intelligent teacher who was once a renowned boxer while Lee Joon Young plays Han Soo Kang, an aloof and mysterious student.

Since her debut, Shin Hye Sun has starred in various works that cemented her in the industry like "Mr. Queen," "She Was Pretty" and "See You In My 19th Life."

This fall, fans will be able to see a different side of the actress as she takes on the challenge of the action drama film.

"I want to impart the message that everyone can be braver when you set your mind to it through this film," Shin Hye Sun said when asked why she chose to appear in the work.

In addition, the actress shared that she experienced a different sense of fulfillment after joining "Brave Citizen," which falls under a different genre compared to her previous projects.

Here's Why Shin Hye Sun Almost Dropped 'Brave Citizen'

Unlike her old projects, "Brave Citizen" pushed SHin Hye Sun to enroll in an action school where she received rigorous training for quite a long time.

The film also didn't allow the actress to appear "too feminine" as the premise states that her character mustn't reveal herself as a woman.

"The teachers in action school taught me everything," Shin Hye Sun revealed. "I thought I was Sparta."

Shin Hye Sun also hinted at her "bare face" shots in the film, saying that she looks more "realistic" and "not too pretty" on the screens.

In addition, her family also became extremely worried about her to the point that her mother asked whether she will be pushing through the work or not.

"Because I got beaten up too much in the movie, my family was very worried," Shin Hye Sun shared with a laugh. "I reassured them that it was all makeup and acting."
