Weeks after Netflix's "Doona" officially aired, viewers are still talking about Bae Suzy's portrayal of the titular role.

Based on the web novel "The Girl Downstairs," she took on the role of Lee Doona, a former member of the popular K-pop group "Dream Sweet" who chose to leave the spotlight at the height of her career.

She then decided to live in a shared apartment, where she met the engineering college student Lee Won Joon, played by Yang Se Jong.

Amid the success of the Netflix series, "Doona" continues to receive mixed reactions.

Bae Suzy 'Unfit' to Play As Lee Doona, Said K-Netz

In online communities, K-netizens continue to criticize Bae Suzy's performance as Lee Doona.

As mentioned in Nate Pann, viewers pointed out how the 29-year-old actress was unfit to play the character.

Despite being a former idol herself, they saw Bae Suzy as someone who didn't fit the bill since her features "don't look like the main character in the original webtoon."

In addition, netizens also mentioned other celebrities who have the same visual as the webtoon character.

Among these is Han So Hee, who has a pretty fox-like face like the original version of Lee Doona.

In addition, TWICE's Sana would also be a great candidate for the "Doona" adaptation.

"I know the webtoon author is satisfied with Suzy's casting, but I hope people don't say 'She's Doona' like that. Webtoon readers actually think Lee Doona looks like Sana," one of the users mentioned, as mentioned by a media outlet.

Despite the negative comments, many still expressed how they were in love with Suzy's character as Lee Doona. Others even pointed out that she was the perfect choice for the role.

In addition, netizens also gushed over Suzy's chemistry with Yang Se Jong.

Suzy's K-Drama 'Doona' Still in Netflix's Top 10

"Doona" shows no signs of slowing as the web novel-based K-drama continues to be among the most watched TV shows on Netflix.

According to a streaming aggregator service, Flix Patrol, Bae Suzy's drama is in 9th place, next to fellow K-content "Strong Girl Namsoon."

Interestingly, "Doona" ranked first in six countries, including Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.

As for Bae Suzy, she is set to return to the small screen for the upcoming romance fantasy series "Everything Will Come True" with Kim Woo Bin.

This is their reunion project after the rom-com "Uncontrollably Fond" in 2016.
