Uhm Jung Hwa Warns Followers Against Her Imposter: ‘Be careful’

Uhm Jung Hwa delivers a special message to his followers after discovering a fake account posing as hers.

Following the actress' second heyday through her K-drama comeback "Our Blues and "Doctor Cha," the 54-year-old actress is among the latest celebrities who have been victimized by scammers on social media.

Uhm Jung Hwa's Instagram: Actress Warns Fans Against Scammers Using Her Identity

On Uhm Jung Hwa's Instagram, she warned her 772,000 followers regarding an Instagram account pretending to be her.

In her Instagram stories, the actress shared a screenshot from the said account with a caption that says, "This is not me. Be careful."

As seen in the post, the account used Uhm Jung Hwa's photos to lure fans to invest in stocks.

"I am actress and singer Uhm Jung Hwa, 54 years old this year. Thanks to beauty care, I have maintained a beautiful face until now. I invested more than 3 billion won in beauty, and my daily income is invested in beauty. I can't afford one expense, so I mainly make a living by investing in stocks," the fake account post's read reads.

Besides the actress' official Instagram account, Uhm Jung Hwa's agency, Saram Entertainment, released an official statement addressing the issue.

In a post shared on the label's Instagram account, the agency warned the public against "unauthorized use of actress Uhm Jung Hwa's identity for fraudulent purposes on social media."

Moreover, Saram Entertainment also mentioned that the actress "never engage in activities that involve solicitation or financial proposals under any circumstances."

"Please be aware that actress Uhm Junghwa's only personal Instagram account is @umaizing, and she does not have any other social media accounts. We kindly request your heightened vigilance to prevent any harm caused by impersonation accounts," the post added.

Uhm Jung Hwa is just among a slew of celebrities who are being targeted and used by scammers.

Fellow top star Lee Min Ho also warned fans regarding fake "social media accounts that are intentionally feigning to be official accounts" and using his identity for fraud.

Seo Kang Joon, Jung Woo Sung, Jung So Min, and Kang Tae Oh have released official statements regarding these tactics with the help of their respective agencies.

What's Next for Uhm Jung Hwa?

After "Our Blues" and "Doctor Cha," Uhm Jung Hwa will return to the small screen with a new K-drama in 2024.

Titled "The Wife," she transforms into Yeo Sang, a dotting wife living a fake life. It is a thriller drama set to be released on KBS. 

As of this writing, officials are yet to confirm the target release date and cast lineup joining Uhm Jung Hwa.
