Yeo Jin Goo To Possibly Replace Jo Byeong Gyu in 'Saeraenadae'

Based on the news cited by media insiders on January 22, Yeo Jin Goo is being courted to play the main protagonist of the new series "Saeraenadae."

On the same day, in response to the report, the actor's agency J Full Entertainment confirmed that Yeo Jin Goo received a casting offer to lead "Saeraenadae" and it is one of the projects that he is currently reviewing.

The historical-romance drama is set against the backdrop of a virtual Joseon, which revolves around the love story between a prince, who wants to escape from the country and find his happiness, and a young lady from a poor clan, who wants to be happy by becoming successful in Joseon.

According to the source, Yeo Jin Goo is rumored to play the lead role of Park Yeong, a prince of Joseon who disguises himself as a reclusive unemployed man. In 2023, "Uncanny Counter" actor Jo Byeong Gyu was first offered to portray the role, but later on declined the project due to a conflict in schedule.

As of this writing, the production has not announced yet who among the talented actresses will join the lead cast.

If Yeo Jin Goo accepts the project offer, "Saeraenadae" will be his next small screen work following the romance series "Link: Eat, Love, Kill" in 2022 where he reunited with promising actress Moon Ga Young.

After he debuted in 2005 through the film "Sad Movie," Yeo Jin Goo marked the beginning of his wonderful career as he received more project offers. He starred in various works such as "Il Ji Mae," Giant," "Ja Myung Go," and the hit drama "The Moon Embracing the Sun."

Yeo Jin Goo wowed the viewers with his solid performance in his first-ever lead role in the movie "Hwayi: A Monster Boy" and continued to solidify his position as a leading actor by appearing in a number of works namely "Shoot Me in the Heart," "1987," "The Crowned Clown," "Hotel Del Luna," and "Beyond Evil."

Since he has been in the entertainment industry for more than a decade, Yeo Jin Goo has already proved his worth as an actor as he bagged multiple titles for his past works.

He got his first Best New Actor trophy at the 34th Blue Dragon Film Awards for the movie "Hwayi: A Monster Boy" in 2013. In the same year, Yeo Jin Goo received the same title for the same movie at the 33rd Korean Association of Film Critics Awards.

In 2015, he took home another Best New Actor title at the KBS Drama Awards for his amazing performance in the series "Orange Marmalade." Lastly, he won the "Excellent Actor" for the long-length drama for his portrayal in SBS' "The Royal Gambler."
